MAGENTA is a leading Social and Behavioural Change (SBC) Research and Communications agency that specializes in understanding human decision-making processes in order to design communications solutions for positive change in fragile and development settings. We implement programmes across the Middle East, Africa and Asia, using the latest in behavioural science principles and a rigorous approach to research, strategy, campaign design and implementation.

MAGENTA’s Middle East team works across five countries (Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria and Yemen). Projects include research, strategy development, SBC intervention implementation, and evaluation.

Primary responsibilities of Programme Analysts are the following (1) conducting programmes and context analysis; (2) assisting with programme management, (3) contributing to programme design and business development; and (4) contributing to organisational knowledge management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Programme Analyst will conduct analysis for a number of programs in the research and communications field. Typical tasks include:

Programme and Context Analysis:

  • Strategically consider the objectives of analysis exercise, including research questions, and plan the analysis accordingly, including which sources to consult, to add maximum value to the programme/research
  • Conduct thorough literature reviews on a variety of topics to inform the design of research studies and programmes
  • Write insightful technical reports, programme presentations and programme updates
  • Oversee data collection and implement quality assurance checks
  • Conduct analysis of primary and secondary data (qualitative and quantitative) to support programme implementation using relevant tools
  • Conduct stakeholder consultations with subject matter experts, key informants, academics, etc. to inform situation analyses

Programme Management:

  • Utilise SBCC models at research, design and implementation phases of programmes
  • Coordinate project partners, e.g. consultants, media and civil society
  • Provide inputs to project plans, Gantt charts and resource plans
  • Monitor project KPIs and update monitoring and evaluation tools accordingly
  • Track project finance
  • File project documentation

Programme Development:

  • Contributing to programme design, including theory of change, activity design, M&E frameworks, resources plans and financial plans
  • Apply SBCC models to the design of new programmes
  • Contribute to proposal preparation and submission
  • Contribute to the expansion of MAGENTA’s professional network in the Middle East
  • Preparing and conducting client presentations
  • Supporting in identifying business development opportunities in focus markets
  • Building partnerships (civil society, media, creative, etc.) in focus markets

Knowledge Management:

  • Contributing to MAGENTA database – past performance records, contact lists, partner testimonials, meeting notes
  • Development of project case studies for marketing and program development purposes
  • Contributing to the MAGENTA academy by developing regular internal presentation on behavioural sciences theories and models

REQUIREMENTS & COMPETENCIES

  • 3- 6 years professional experience;
  • Experience in communications and/or research desirable;
  • Top tier university graduate;
  • Strategic thinker, with a keen desire to learn and consume new information;
  • Robust logic chain analytics and strong general analytical skills;
  • Solid understanding of project management cycle;
  • Highly numerate, with strong commercial acumen;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities;
  • Demonstrated desire for excellence and an ability to inspire others to attain professional excellence;
  • Demonstrated passion and interest in the Middle East;
  • Innovation driven;
  • Technological fluency;
  • Willingness to live and work in developing/post-crisis settings;
  • Excellent written and spoken English mandatory, fluency in Arabic a strong asset;
  • Good sense of humour, personable and demonstrated ability to build networks;
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to get hands dirty;
  • Software fluency: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Office 365;
  • Desirable software fluency: social media analytics and/or data analysis software (Nvivo, SPSS for instance)

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Some long hours including evening and weekends to complete tasks or attend events
  • May involve working in regions that are remote and lack basic modern infrastructure
