ROLE PURPOSE

The Program Officer is responsible for designing program and project concepts and strategies related to Child Protection and Child Rights Governance.

The post holder leads the conduct of child rights situational analysis, program data and/or MEAL data analysis related to Child Protection and Governance which serve as inputs in designing innovative and adaptive Child Protection and Child Rights program strategies, approaches and initiatives including grant-funded projects. S/he is responsible for ensuring a rights-based, gender-transformative, disability and socially inclusive, integrated and resilient-building quality Child Rights and Child Protection program.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

* At least 3 years' experience in designing, planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating child rights-based programs. Proven track record on children's rights, participation and governance or child protection
* Basic understanding of rights-based approaches to development including the principles of Gender Equality, Disability and Inclusion (GEDSI).
* Knowledge of policy advocacy and experience in engaging duty bearers and facilitating meaningful and safe children's participation, use of rights-based approaches in development and humanitarian settings.
* Critical thinking which is demonstrated by the ability to design initiatives to address emerging needs, evolving issues affecting children
* Strong writing and oral communication skills; can produce high quality technical papers and deliver compelling presentations.
* Effective communication and facilitation skills in using various tools in simplifying concepts and frameworks in communicating with a wide range of audiences related to the program including children.
* Demonstrates resilience to stress and agility to abrupt changes and can multitask
* Strong work ethics particularly in delivering quality outputs on time and in working with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders
* Understands and believes in Save the Children's mission and vision; commits to its objectives and willing to adopt Save the Children's methodology and framework.
