IREX seeks an entry-level Program Associate for its Leadership Practice to provide programmatic support for the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) Fellowship Program. This position will support all aspects of the program life cycle including fellow experience, alumni, operations, communications, logistics management, recruiting and preparing partners, monitoring, learning and evaluation, and advising fellows. This position will also carry out additional duties and tasks to meet the needs of the organization, team, or as assigned by the manager.

Your Background & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in international development, international relations, marketing & communications, business, or related field.
  • 1+ years of work experiences; work experience may include internships or part-time job or combination of both.
  • Experience with public speaking, presentations and/or training development and facilitation.
  • Experience managing large sets of data and conducting administrative tasks with attention to detail and competing deadlines.
  • Experience creating marketing or promotional materials.
  • Experience working in a multicultural and diverse environment.
  • Experience or interest in entrepreneurship programming, leadership development, and international education or exchange.
  • International experience in or exposure to Canada, Latin America or the Caribbean, through work, study, volunteering, or family, preferred.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced working environment, and remain flexible while adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work well on a team, including eliciting and incorporating input, delegating tasks, and providing respectful feedback where appropriate.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including empathizing, engaging, and managing conflict.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Office 365 products (Sharepoint, Teams, OneNote), Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Salesforce, preferred but not required.
  • Understanding of Latin America and Caribbean political developments.
  • Knowledge of Spanish, French or Portuguese, preferred but not required.
  • Speaking, reading and writing proficiency in English required.
  • You must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

Your Daily Tasks

  • Be a member of a team that supports and connects entrepreneurs across the Americas and values integrity, openness, and a sense of humor.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for many aspects of program implementation to ensure timely, accurate, and thoughtful delivery of program.
  • Contribute to monitoring and evaluation activities including data management and analysis.
  • Advise fellows and host organizations during placement to guide their program experience.
  • With supervision, provide input to internal/external reports and presentations.
  • Assist with the development of training content for partners, alumni, and fellows, and support facilitating in-person events and trainings.
  • Communicate with external stakeholders in a clear, professional, friendly manner.
  • Support program internal and external communication; tasks may include, the management of email inboxes and program contact information, draft written communications, contribute to program communication tools (newsletters) and social media efforts.
  • With supervision and guidance, conduct research and outreach via email and phone to secure fellowship host organizations to host YLAI Fellows.
  • Assist with the development of training content for partners, alumni, and fellows, and support facilitating in-person events and trainings.
  • Accurately perform financial administration tasks (payment requests, sub-award approval level, procurement process, vendor RFP, etc).
  • Develop a sound understanding of the purpose and reason for each required task consistent with policies.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining program processes.
  • Clearly communicate progress and challenges verbally and in writing to manager and team.
  • Provide input and contribute perspective to team decision-making.
  • Represent IREX and Leadership Practice interests both within and outside of IREX.
  • Develop and share goals for professional growth with your manager and work together to identify opportunities for development and advancement.
  • Other support duties as needed.
