Where you come in:
In this part-time or full-time (we are flexible for the right candidate) fixed-term position, based in Melbourne, Sydney, or Canberra, you will work on providing expert policy and advocacy advice across a range of aid and development and child rights policy issues. With a focus on the Pacific, you will enhance Save the Children’s reputation among key stakeholders as a primary source of policy analysis on children in, or at risk of humanitarian emergencies. You will be part of our dynamic Policy and Advocacy team and report to our Head of Policy.

You will make an impact by:
* Providing high level policy advice across a range of aid and development and child rights policy issues, with a particular focus on the Pacific
* Preparing evidence-based and influential research briefs for advocacy purposes
* Monitoring and analysing relevant legislation and policy development at a national and international level
* Preparing and presenting submissions for inquiries and consultations
* Developing strategies and materials to further enhance our profile in the Pacific
* Developing and maintaining relationships with all levels of government

If we could compose the perfect you…
…You have high-level and robust policy analysis skills, paired with an ability to engage both critically and constructively with government and partners on current and emerging humanitarian affairs. You have an in-depth understanding and proven experience in using an array of advocacy tools to influence change, including private and public advocacy. You have the confidence and good judgement to make difficult decisions in complex and fast-moving policy areas, and you thrive on working in high pressure contexts.

This role requires:
* Demonstrated experience working on Pacific policy and advocacy issues
* Experience in delivering successful advocacy campaign
* Policy analysis skills, including the ability to analyse complex policy issues and adapt for a variety of audiences
* Exceptional communication skills including a strong ability to adapt writing style for a range of audiences and products
* A proven track record of excellence in service delivery
* Ability to travel to the Pacific when required
