Title: PGIE Delegate

Reporting to the Mali CRC Country Representative (with technical line to the PGIE advisers in Ottawa), the delegate will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the project’s PGIE and adolescent health activities at the community and district levels in the project areas in Mali.

As a PGIE Delegate you will:

  • Plan and coordinate the project’s PGIE activities in collaboration with the Mali Red Cross (CRM) and under the supervision of the CRC Country Representative.

  • Ensure mainstreaming of Protection, Gender equality, social inclusion and community engagement and accountability (PGIE) in all project activities.

  • Provide technical support and guidance to the Mali Red Cross (CRM) staff and local project team in planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting on PGIE related to the project activities and budgets.

  • Promote adherence to IFRC Minimum standards for PGI

  • Provide mentorship and support on PGIE to the CRM Gender and Diversity focal point in planning and implementation of project activities.

  • Prepare and conduct orientations and trainings on PGIE for CRM and local project team; mentor the team in delivering training to volunteers and community health workers.

  • Support the participatory development of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials for Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) for the Mali Red Cross.

  • Support project reporting to highlight PGIE results and challenges.

  • Share lessons learned, success and challenges with CRM, local project team and other national stakeholders.

  • Participate and provide input into national fora and workshops on PGIE, PSEA or other gender equality issues

We’re looking for:

Education and Experience

Knowledge, skills and languages

  • Demonstrated knowledge of two or more of thematic areas of Protection, Gender Equality, Social Inclusion, Community Engagement, and Accountability (CEA), Education, Women’s Economic Empowerment.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing for different audiences, adapting style to fit the situation.

  • Ability to gather, analyze, and evaluate information, and collect and/or monitor sex, age and disability disaggregated data.

  • Ability to engage with diverse groups and individuals and seek their meaningful participation.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, handle multiple demands simultaneously, and work under pressure and work remotely.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to work both independently, with minimal supervision, and as part of a team.

  • Negotiating and influencing skills and ability to work effectively with both international and local counterparts.

  • Good knowledge of the West Africa region, and the PGIE contexts and challenges within different communities.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Result-based management (RBM) tools and of the Government of Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy (FIAP), an asset.

  • Fluent in French (speaking, reading, writing) and functional in English.
