• Work with business units, HR leaders, and other key stakeholders to distill talent development requirements necessary to achieve business outcomes; leverage this information to contribute in implementation of talent development strategies with specific focus on career development activities 
  • Ensure these components are aligned with “People for 2030”, UNDP’s People Strategy – with special consideration to gender parity, diversity and inclusion. 
  • Coordinate integration of talent development components with other relevant people strategy components such as talent reviews, talent development, succession planning, high-potential management, career development.
  • Contribute to the creation of a corporate learning culture in which UNDP’s employees drive and own their learning and development, and in which people managers contribute to building a learning organization and promote a strong employee experience and value proposition.
  • Contribute to the delivery of UNDP’s People Development Strategy. 
  • Engage with best-in-class external providers for provision of learning and development solutions supporting career experiences. 
  • Support implementation of capability gap analyses. Design and deliver learning solutions aligned with priority capability gaps and key organizational priorities.
  • Contribute to ensure that UNDP effectively leverages modern learning experience platforms and technologies.
  • Contribute to strengthen the onboarding experience of new employees.
  • Contribute in implementation of career development and experience strategies, services, tools and resources for UNDP personnel.
  • Contribute in continued improvement in the delivery of career development programmes and initiatives such as the “SPARK” programme and Virtual Development Assignment Programme.
  • Strengthen the capacity of UNDP’s managers in supporting employee career growth and development.
  • Coordinate career development and counselling support services for UNDP personnel. 
  • Manage a partially virtual, diverse team based in different time-zones including staff, PSAs, interns, online facilitators. 
  • Leverage networks with e.g. learning providers, private sector, universities, business schools.
  • Build working relationships with UN agency colleagues and participate in inter-agency fora / working groups on career development, people development and management, share knowledge and best practices.
  • Conduct research and benchmarking to ensure strategy, content and delivery model of the talent management development portfolios are positioned to deliver best-in-class results and best value.
  • Develop and / or leverage measures, benchmarks, and scorecards to monitor effectiveness of talent development programmes and initiatives.
  • Communicate and promote UNDP’s talent development opportunities to various target groups, leveraging a variety of channels and networks. Leverage UNDP’s Talent Development Manager community to ensure UNDP personnel are aware of offering.
  • Facilitate (virtual) events or learning programmes.
  • Ensure knowledge management and ensure relevant information is readily available on UNDP’s Talent Hub (intranet).
  • Leverage virtual communication and learning technology / tools e.g., Microsoft Suite, TEAMs, Yammer, SharePoint.

  • Ability to substantively engage and foster networks with UN HR practitoners, academia, research institutions, and think tanks
  • Ability to capture, develop, share and effectively use HR information and knowledge
  • Master's degree, preferably in human resources management, business administration, learning and development or any other relevant practice
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the public or private sectors, multilateral organizations, including UN, academia, non-governmental sector, private and corporate companies with increasing level of responsibility. 
  • Demonstrated experience and success in design and implementation of career, people,and talent development strategies.
  • Proven supervisory and people management experience, leading (virtual) teams in complex international entities with a globally diverse workforce.
  • Demonstrated experience in budget management and procurement. 
  • Proven ability to collaborate with and lead vendors. 
  • Demonstrated experience in learning impact evaluation.
  • Demonstrated experience in leveraging virtual communication and learning technology and tools e.g., Microsoft Suite, TEAMs, Yammer, SharePoint)
  • Demonstrated experience in (virtual) facilitation of learning programmes and events for various target groups.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Previous working experience in the UN system and working with UN country offices desired.
  • Full proficiency in English. Knowledge of another UN language (e.g., French, Spanish) is an asset. 
  • Commitment to the United Nations system’s mission, vision and values; cultural sensitivity and adaptability
  • Professional certifications in HR and career development is an asset.
