Position Summary
ICAP at Columbia University, a global health leader situated within the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health in New York City seeks a HIV prevention-focused Peer Health Navigator to be based at the Harlem Prevention Center, located in central Harlem.
Reporting to and under the direction of the Study Principal Investigator, the Peer Health Navigator will use a strengths-based case management (SBCM) approach to support transgender women participating in a federally-funded HIV prevention study to use study-supported services, including medication to prevent acquiring HIV. The Peer Health Navigator will also support overall study implementation, retention, and data collection according to site and study-specific procedures. Responsibilities include: complete study-specific and other training; contribute to study community engagement plan and its implementation; educate prospective participants about the study participation and procedures; support screening and enrollment procedures; provide and document SBCM and peer navigation; support study retention efforts; meet regularly with study staff to monitor progress and refine plans for recruitment and the study peer health navigation intervention; attend study-wide conference calls and meetings as required.
The position is contingent upon availability of grant funding.
Responsibilities
Deliver SBCM-driven peer health navigation according to study protocol, study-specific procedures, and other supporting resources. 15%
Complete case report forms and other study intervention documentation forms as required.15%
Maintain source documentation as outlined in study-specific procedures and the site standard operating procedures. 10%
Conduct outreach and education to engage prospective study participants according to study community engagement plans. 15%
Employ intensive strategies to retain study participants and re-engage participants missing study visits. 10%
Participate in regular meetings with study staff, including study coordinator, and clinical supervisor to ensure high-quality performance of job responsibilities. 5%
Attend study related trainings and meetings as required. 5%
Perform other study-related duties as assigned. 5%
