Outreach, Partnerships and Mobilization Senior Associate or Specialist


Background:

The Office in Europe (ORP/EUR) is currently looking for Partnerships and Mobilization Senior Associate or Specialist with experience in partnerships and resource mobilization with development actors in Europe.

Our team:

The Office of Outreach and Partnerships (ORP) is responsible for establishing and fostering institutional relationships with governments, companies, foundations, universities, non-government organizations, and other stakeholders. Built in 2008 to nurture the IDB’s existing partnerships network and further expand its global ties with development actors in the public and private sectors, ORP engages in mutually beneficial alliances that generate value for all partners. These partnerships leverage IDB expertise, resources, and regional presence, as well as partners’ financial and non-financial contributions to improve lives in the LAC region. ORP consists of the Resource Mobilization Division (REM) and the Grants and Co-financing Management Unit (GCM), both of which are located in Washington D.C., as well as the IDB’s Country Offices in Asia (ASI) in Tokyo and Europe (EUR) in Madrid.
The Office in Europe (EUR)’s key functional areas include strategic outreach and engagement, partnership building and mobilization of financial and non-financial resources with existing and potential partners in Europe to support the Group’s development activities in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) in line with the IDB Group’s strategies and priorities through close coordination with IDB Group’s operational and corporate units and ASI, EUR, GCM and REM teams. The successful candidate would be joining a team of professionals, who are passionate about what they do and about ORP’s mission to engage externally with actual and potential partners in furtherance of development in the LAC region.

What you’ll do:

Contribute to IDB, IDB Invest and IDB Lab operations and activities through strengthening existing partnerships, developing new alliances and mobilizing financial and non-financial external resources in line with the IDBG’s strategic priorities. Activities include participating in multidisciplinary working groups during the project identification and orientation phase to identify potential alliances, with additional resources that complement to IDB operations and/or scale IDB involvement. Identify co-financing opportunities ensuring to optimize the impact of IDB operations as well as to meet the strategic priorities and interest of key stakeholders, through donor dialogue and coordination. Identify, in coordination with operation units, potential strategic alliances whose expertise and skill-set would multiply possible development impacts to sustainable social investment in the region. Participate in ORP’s ongoing effort in its strategic outreach in the development community in Europe. Activities include designing and coordination in conferences, seminars and workshops to bring relevant development actors, disseminate best practices and lessons-learned on key development tools and knowledge products to add value to the Bank’s sectoral and knowledge departments in addition to positioning the IDB as a partner of choice and increasing the awareness of the development needs in the LAC. Contribute to the preparation and execution of the senior management missions in Europe, including the identification of potential partners to reach out, schedule coordination, partner intelligence, preparation of agenda, briefing/talking points, and presentation materials as well as the follow up actions and lead contacts. In coordination with ORP Front Office and Knowledge Innovation and Communications Department, contribute to the development and implementation of ORP ´s outreach and communication strategy for European stakeholders and existing/potential partners. Activities include content development management and outreach management such as: developing compelling stories to disseminate the Office´s work and promoting them through appropriate social medial channels; writing press releases or other written stories; writing talking points and speeches; producing printed, digital and multimedia communication products (email campaigns, invitations, presentations, brochure, videos, etc); supporting ORP efforts to maintain a calendar of upcoming ineternal/external events to optimize opportunities; coordinating joint communication activities with external partners; creating data visualization; media monitoring; reaching out to relevant media and supporting in the planning and design of presentations to internal and external audiences. Work under the moderate supervision of others.

What you’ll need:

Education: Master’s degree in International Development, International Relations, Economics, Business Administration, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or equivalent.

Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in the development of effective and efficient partnerships and resource mobilization, including the negotiation of public and private accounts and partnerships involving a variety of partnership instruments, such as co-financing arrangements and non-financial products (in-kind, knowledge, among others).


The Senior Associate or Associate should have:

Experience in managing partnership strategies and instruments, business plans and complex negotiations as well as a solid track record of resource mobilization with European partners.

Knowledge and understanding of IDB Group’s institutional strategy and priorities, its activities involving the partnerships and mobilization; the development challenges and agenda in LAC; and the development objectives of the non-Regional member countries, especially the European countries.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Proficiency in the use of social media platforms.

Creativity and marketing skills.

Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English (oral and written). Advanced knowledge of French or Portuguese is a plus.
