The National Researcher \u2013 Climate Change Policy and Adaptation will be part of a new one CGIAR Research Initiative on TAFSSA: Transforming Agri-Food Systems in South Asia. The researcher will play a key supporting role in the TAFSSA activities, particularly Work Package 5 (Building resilience and mitigating environmental impact in South Asia\u2019s Agri-food systems). The successful candidate will be familiar with the climate change and policy landscape related to water-energy-food in South Asia, have advanced knowledge of conducting scoping reviews, qualitative and quantitative research on climate change adaptation, mitigation and policies thereof. Working with the project leadership as well as with other CGIAR colleagues and national and international partners, the researcher will be part of a multi-national and multidisciplinary team that is contributing towards building resilience and mitigating environmental impacts in South Asia\u2019s agri-food systems.


Duties and Responsibilities:

In-depth literature reviews, including historical scoping reviews on topics related to agri-food systems Help in designing survey instruments and protocols for qualitative in-depth surveys; including training survey supervisors and enumerators Support to qualitative data analysis, literature reviews, including policy and program reviews Assist in preparation of reports and journal manuscripts Support activities related to communications and knowledge mobilization Co-ordinate with national and international partners and collaborators involved in the projects Support reporting for progress monitoring of activities

Requirements

Essential:

Masters degree in Human Geography, Economics, Development Studies, Public Policy, with a good understanding of climate change adaptation and natural resources management, including water management in South Asia with 2-5 years of experience. Experience of conducting qualitative in-depth surveys and literature reviews including scoping and systematic reviews Experience of handling secondary data from various government sources, e.g., Census data, large scale national survey data etc. Some experience of helping with design and conduct of socio-economic surveys and analyzing survey data survey data, both qualitative and quantitative data Experience using statistical and/or qualitative software packages (e.g. STATA/R and/or Atlas Ti, Nvivo) Experience of working with research organizations in South Asia Excellent spoken and written English Ability to work efficiently, independently, and pay close attention to detail. Willingness and ability to travel across South Asia, including to rural areas to conduct fieldwork, supervise primary data collection, and internationally Track record of publishing in good quality journals, and in topics related to the position (e.g., climate change adaptation, water management etc.)
