Within the framework of the Program, UNODC supports national and regional efforts to prevent and respond to terrorism and violent extremism in Central Asia. UNODC is also actively engaged in the Global Framework on UN Support to Member States on Individuals Returned from Syria and Iraq. This includes objectives to a) respond to protection needs of children and adults as well as support the preparedness and resiliency of communities and families; and b) support governments in promoting security and addressing accountability for offences allegedly committed by returning adults.
Under the direct supervision of the UNODC Program Coordinator (Sub-Program 2 and 4), overall guidance of the UNODC Regional Representative for Central Asia and with substantive support from the Terrorism Prevention Branch and Justice Section in UNODC headquarters, the National Program Officer (Terrorism Prevention) will be responsible for the operational management of technical assistance on terrorism prevention in Central Asia and substantive support to UNODC in its engagement under the Global Framework on UN Support to Member States on Individuals Returned from Syria and Iraq.
The National Program Officer will ensure smooth and timely delivery of operations in accordance with relevant work and activity plans through performing the following duties and responsibilities:

Teamwork: Works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals; solicits input by genuinely valuing others’ ideas and expertise; is willing to learn from others; places team agenda before personal agenda; supports and acts in accordance with final group decision, even when such decisions may not entirely reflect own position; shares credit for team accomplishments and accepts joint responsibility for team shortcomings.
Planning & Organizing: Develops clear goals that are consistent with agreed strategies; identifies priority activities and assignments; adjusts priorities as required; allocates appropriate amount of time and resources for completing work; foresees risks and allows for contingencies when planning; monitors and adjusts plans and actions as necessary; uses time efficiently.
Accountability: Takes ownership of all responsibilities and honors commitments; delivers outputs for which one has responsibility within prescribed time, cost and quality standards, operates in compliance with organizational regulations and rules; supports subordinates, provides oversight and takes responsibility for delegated assignments; takes personal responsibility for his/her own shortcomings and those of the work unit, where applicable.
