The Opportunity

Save the Children International has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team for a 12 month fixed term contract as National Office Governance Senior Manager. SCI is currently facing a number of external pressures that require us to look at our structure and ways of working and determine the changes we need to make in order to remain relevant as we move into 2021 and beyond.

As part of this work, SC is implementing National Offices (NOs) in a selected number of country offices (initially a set of 3 Country Offices will become NOs).

The NO Governance Manager will:

  • Support establishing and operationalising independent and effective governance for the National Offices, based on the Alliance Agreement and Governance Framework agreed with SCI.
  • Establish effective ways of working within the National Office (SMT and Board) and the Regional Office, coaching and advising staff on the new ways of working.

Maintain and improve the National Office Governance Framework as needed, ensuring alignment with SCA governance framework.

QUALIFICATIONS

Educated to degree level or qualified by relevant professional experience.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • Good knowledge of governance and good practice in organizational leadership
  • Experience working in NGO and charity governance
  • Good understanding of governance dynamics of a volunteer board in an ICSO/NGO setting and experience working with senior voluntary boards and committee members
  • Good diplomatic, influencing and negotiating skill with ability to exercise discretion.
  • Experience with standards, organisational KPIs, performance management, and accountability structures within an INGO or other context desirable
  • Good project and change management skills and experience
  • Experience in solving complex issues through analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy in
  • Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills.
  • Ability to conceive and formalize sound strategy and deliver on objectives and tasks on time.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative.
