Organizational Setting

The Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia (REU) is responsible for leading FAO's response to regional priorities for food security, agriculture and rural development through the identification, planning and implementation of FAO's priority activities in the region. It ensures a multidisciplinary approach to programmes, identifies priority areas of action for the Organization in the Region and, in collaboration with departments and divisions at Headquarters, develops, promotes and oversees FAO's strategic response to regional priorities. REU also advises on the incorporation of regional priorities into the Organization's Programme of Work and Budget and implements approved programmes and projects in the region, monitors the level of programme implementation and draws attention to problems and deficiencies. The Regional Office supports regional policy dialogue on food security, agriculture and rural development issues, facilitates the emergence of regional partnerships, and supports capacity development and resource mobilization for food security, agriculture and rural development in the region.

Reporting Lines

Under the overall supervision of the Senior Project Coordinator and in direct supervision of the National Project Coordinator, the incumbent will undertake the following duties in support of the project "Developing Capacity for Strengthening Food Security and Nutrition in Selected Countries of the Caucasus and Central Asia" (GCP/GLO/674/RUS).

Tasks and responsibilities

  • systems for nutrition sensitive social protection" Pilot;
  • Assist in the preparation of detailed work plans, and in the supervision/monitoring of their implementation;
  • Contribute to the formulation of technical elements in interim and final reports to donors;
  • Contribute to needs assessment surveys, monitoring and analyses of the overall status of the livestock component of the "Cash +" Pilot;
  • Contribute to the formulation of technical elements in the Letters of Agreement and contracts, tender documents,
  • Develop technical specifications for the agricultural inputs.
  • Assist in identification of the potential suppliers of the requested inputs (livestock, feeding, etc.).
  • Assess training needs and identify types of training to be provided to beneficiaries, and accordingly contribute to prepare/adapt source materials;
  • Based on the identified training needs, coordinate, prepare and conduct training when necessary
  • Coordinate and initiate preventive care procedures to maintain good health of the animals.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

  • University degree in Veterinary Medicine, Animal Science or similar field
  • At least 5 years of experience,
  • Experience working with international organization,
  • Experience in training (conducting and preparing material, coordination)
  • Experience in emergency response
  • National of Armenia or resident in the country with a regular work permit.
