Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 25 years old. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of a Public Information Officer or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer Motion Graphic Animator will:

  • Conceptualize, design, and produce animation videos for social media;
  • Conceptualize and create specific graphic design assets to communicate key messages around specific topics, including but not limited to UNODC programmes and campaigns;
  • Prepare existing graphic elements for animation;
  • Pre-visualize motion design;
  • Animation;
  • Prepare final web ready GIFs;
  • Provide graphic design branding support as needed;
  • Support team members as needed;
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level: Bachelor degree or equivalent

Education - Additional Comments: University degree (Bachelor's or higher) or equivalent Diploma in Graphic Arts and Design backed up by a strong portfolio.

Required experience: 36 Months

Experience remark:

  • 3+ years of of strong practical background in motion graphics animation, graphic design and graphic design softwares, including but not limited to: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After effects, Premiere, Flash and the rest of the Adobe Creative Cloud;
  • Knowledge of Final Cut Pro is a plus;
  • Knowledge in concept and creation of short animation videos;
  • Knowledge in specific graphic design assets, including gif animation infographics/factographs (for print and digital), data visualization, and interactive presentations;
  • Ability to provide examples of work undertaken;
  • Good understanding of new and evolving technologies and digital platforms;
  • Proven ability to deliver under tight deadlines;
  • Possesses strong organizational skills and has an eye for detail;
  • Provides advice on the best use of technologies about design and interactive usability is a plus;
  • Knowledge of any Content Management System is a plus;
  • Ability to create lightweight web designs is a plus;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
  • Have affinity with or interest in drugs, crime, and terrorism-related issues, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System;
  • Fluency of spoken and written English is required; Working knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.
