The purpose of the job is day to day implementation of the M&E activities across projects. He or she will be responsible for the data collection, PDM, analysis and report writing of the monitoring sessions of the projects. He or she will be responsible for creating data collection tools and digitalization of the data collection tools whenever required for the Core Competencies.

Generic responsibilities

  1. Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures

  2. Implement delegated project portfolio as assigned

  3. Provide regular progress reports as requested by line management

  4. Ensure proper filing of documents in line with SSD and GDPR

  5. Promote and share ideas for technical improvement

  6. Contribute to process to establish programme level M&E systems; participate in logframe design, support on indicator formulation, M&E plan, etc.

  7. Support in developing data collection methodology and tools and storage systems, and in actual data collection

  8. Support in standardizing M&E across projects, including adaptation of M&E protocols

  9. Support the Complaint, Feedback and Response Mechanism and maintain database

Specific responsibilities

· Support in developing data collection methodology and tools and data storage systems, and in actual data collection

· Support and utilize data collection tools, including but not limited to Excel and Kobo

· Support verification of data; conduct data analysis; contribute to data report writing

· Using software including but not limited to Excel, Kobo and PowerBi

· Support in standardizing M&E across projects

· Support in data management and development, and information flow between programmes

· Support in digitization of forms required for M&E

· Ensure Do No Harm is upheld in data collection and programming

· Identify and document key protection issues at project sites

· Any other task relevant to the position as requested by line managers or technical leads

· Experience working in a humanitarian/recovery context desired

· Experience working in complex and volatiles contexts desired

· Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities required

· Solid computer skills, including MS Word, Outlook and Excel required

· Ability to work diligently both independently and in a team setting required

· Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile required

· Willingness to travel regularly to the field in under-resourced settings required

· Fluency in Portuguese both written and verbal required, strong English language skills preferred, knowledge of local languages of northern Cabo Delgado an asset

Specific skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Experience with and knowledge of principles and current approaches to monitoring and evaluation in humanitarian programs, using both quantitative and qualitative methods

· Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge to diverse audiences through training, mentoring and other formal and non-formal methods

· Knowledge of digital data collection platforms (KoBo, PowerBi)

· Knowledge of the context in Cabo Delgado is required

· Knowledge of the circumstances, needs and challenges displacement and conflict-affected IDPs, host communities, and returnees face

  • Experience liaising with local and community stakeholders
  • Field level experience with an NGO preferred
