The Pacific Community (SPC) is the principal scientific and technical organisation in the Pacific region, supporting development since 1947. We are an international development organisation owned and governed by our 26 country and territory members. In pursuit of sustainable development to benefit Pacific people, our organisation works across more than 20 sectors. We are known for our knowledge and innovation in such areas as fisheries science, public health surveillance, geoscience, and conservation of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture.

The Regional Rights Resource Team (RRRT) of the Pacific Community (SPC) was established in 1995 and has been a pioneer in providing human rights capacity-building, research, policy, legal and technical assistance in the Pacific region. RRRT’s mission is to advance human rights and good governance standards for the sustainable and equitable development of the region and the benefit of all Pacific peoples.

The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Data Assistant will be responsible for the management of MEL data including collation, entry/storage and verification for RRRT monitoring and reporting purposes.

The key responsibilities of the role include the following:

  • MEL data management
  • Management of the RRRT trainees database including trainee tracking
  • Support to donor and SPC Corporate reporting
  • MEL support to RRRT capacity building activities

Key selection criteria

Qualifications

  • A tertiary certificate in Information Management, Monitoring and Evaluation or Finance/Administration and/or a School Leavers Certificate with 1-3 years’ experience in collecting, entering and filing information

Knowledge and experience

  • At least 1-3 years of experience in data/information management, or monitoring and evaluation
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • Skilled user of databases for entering, processing/cleaning and extracting data
  • Knowledge of MS Excel

Essential skills

  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and flexible approaches to problem solving with demonstrated experience in setting priorities
  • Strong people skills and ability to work in a multicultural and gender sensitive environment

Language skills

  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written)

Interpersonal skills and cultural awareness

  • Ability to work in a multicultural, inclusive and equitable environment

Salary, terms and conditions

Contract Duration – Until 30 June 2021

Remuneration – This is a full-time position at Band 4 in SPC’s 2020 salary scale, with a commencing taxable salary range of FJD 1,199‒1,499 per month, plus local staff benefits. An offer of appointment for an initial contract will be made in the lower half of this range, with due consideration given to experience and qualifications. Progression within the salary scale will be based on annual performance reviews.
