Result of Service

  • 10 Podcasts to promote the work of the UN DCO in the rollout of the UN business operations reform initiatives.
  • Promotion of developed podcasts to targeted audience.
  • Develop 10 videos and recordings for the self-paced online trainings, step by step guides, webinars and other capacity development initiatives.
  • Timely inputs into branch wide communication and outreach plan being developed, in collaboration with the CBSS Senior Change Management Advisor and DCO Communication team.
  • Outreach materials, including one-pagers (5), articles (5), newsletter articles (10) and social media posts (10) to sensitize and promote the work of the business operations strategy and other reform initiatives.
  • 20 UNSDG website updates, Yammer group posts, or SDG Knowledge Portal posts and other means of community engagement.

Expected duration

Full-time from 01 May 2021, for period of six months with possibility of extension for an additional three months depending on satisfactory performance, scope of work and availability of funds in 2021.

Responsibilities

The Media Development and Outreach Consultant will work with the UN DCO Country Business Strategy Section (CBSS) to for the implementation of deliverables to enhance the sections ability in development of multi-media products for communication and capacity development projects.

Indicators for Evaluation of Deliverables

  • Timeliness in delivery of the podcasts, videos and outreach materials
  • Accuracy in communication
  • Ability to work constructively with internal and external partners.

Qualifications/special skills

Academic Qualifications: Master's degree in media, Journalism or related fields.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in media, communication or related field. Working knowledge on UN communication products is an asset; Experiences in the usage of computers and office software package and working knowledge on adobe creative suites; Strong photography and videography skills is an asset.

Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Additional Information

Work implies frequent interaction with the following: Internal DCO colleagues, and various UN system partners, as well as for members of the client group.

Proposed total remuneration: Lumpsum, $5,000 per month, inclusive. Any associated costs including living expenses, will not be funded by UNDCO.
