CHAI’s global malaria program provides direct technical and operational support to countries around the globe to strengthen their malaria programs and reduce the burden of this preventable, treatable disease. We support governments to scale up effective interventions for prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and surveillance, with the goals of sustainably reducing the number of malaria-related illnesses and deaths worldwide in the short-term and accelerating progress towards malaria elimination in the long term.
Position Summary:
CHAI is seeking a highly motivated individual to work as a Strategy and Management Associate to help the governments in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Honduras and Guatemala achieve historic malaria elimination. In addition, this individual will provide financial analysis support in order to implement the Regional Malaria Elimination Initiative (RMEI) alongside the InterAmerican Development Bank (IDB). As part of the Global Malaria Team, the Strategy and Management Associate will provide direct support at the highest level of government and to senior partners from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and other international and local NGOs. In particular, the Associate will support the development of strategic plans for sustainably eliminating malaria and preventing resurgence and develop the cost models to determine the resources required. In addition, the Associate will analyze the strategic, managerial, and operational challenges countries encounter in their fight to eliminate malaria, and then based on the assessment, develop solutions framework and work with the country and partners to implement it. The Associate will report to the Senior Manager of the Global Malaria Strategy and Finance Team; base location is preferably Port Au Prince, Haiti, but other options within Panama, Honduras, or Guatemala are optional.
The Associate will bring outstanding relationship management, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. The Associate must also be able to work independently and have deep personal commitment to producing results. The Associate also will be expected to be fluent in Excel and have a high business proficiency in English and French, with Spanish as an optional advantage. 3+ years of working experience with increasing levels of responsibility and leadership in finance, management consulting, or another relevant field
Master's degree in Business, Policy, Public Administration, Public Health, or related field, or Bachelor's degree with equivalent work experience
High levels of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Exceptional relationship management and communication skills
Strong diplomatic and interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships in a challenging multicultural environment
Demonstrated excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
Ability to oversee multiple work streams simultaneously, to set priorities, and to work independently and flexibly with a strong commitment to excellence in high-pressure situations
Willingness to travel to up to 50% of the time (flexibility depending on base location)
