Overview of team
CHAI’s global malaria and neglected tropical disease (NTD) program provides direct technical and operational support to countries around the globe to strengthen their programs and reduce the burden of preventable, treatable diseases. We support governments to scale up effective interventions for prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and surveillance, with the goals of sustainably reducing the number of illnesses and deaths worldwide in the short-term and accelerating progress towards elimination of malaria and NTDs in the long term.
Overview of role
NTDs, including schistosomiasis, onchocerciasis, soil-transmitted helminths, lymphatic filariasis and trachoma, affect more than one billion people worldwide, disproportionately impacting children and the world’s poorest populations. Preventative Chemotherapy (PC) NTDs can be prevented and treated with existing medicines and tools, and countries are aiming to eliminate these diseases by 2030. To achieve this goal while operating under significant resource constraints, national NTD programs need to make data-informed decisions to improve strategic planning, mobilize and make efficient use of increasingly limited resources, and inform the targeting and implementation of prevention and treatment campaigns for NTDs.
CHAI is seeking a highly motivated individual to work as an M&E Associate to demonstrate a simplified and harmonized approach to M&E within the wider NTD community. This position will be instrumental in developing and managing relationships with a range of key stakeholders, coordinating activities and timelines, and effectively performing key Accelerate Resilient, Innovative, and Sustainable Elimination of NTDs (ARISE) M&E activities in close partnership with the End Fund (ARISE fund manager) and Ministries of Health NTD programs in Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Kenya, Senegal and South Sudan. CHAI places great value on relevant personal qualities including resourcefulness, tenacity, independence, patience, humility, and strong work ethic.
