Miyamoto Relief is 501(c)3 charitable organization registered in California, USA, that applies engineering expertise to sustain life in at-risk communities around the world. Equipped with frontline disaster-response experience, Miyamoto Relief shares its expert engineering knowledge to save lives and communities while increasing the technical capacity of communities directly affected by disasters.

Miyamoto Relief has been awarded a grant by the U.S. Department of State under the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) Program to support the development of retrofit guidelines for cultural heritage buildings in Lebanon. Miyamoto Relief is now seeking a Program Coordinator to support our works in Lebanon. This position will play a central role in program implementation, leading the on-the-ground coordination of the 2-year project.

This is a part-time position located in Beirut, Lebanon.

Some of the central responsibilities of this position are:

Project coordination

  • Support to and coordinate between Miyamoto’s Lebanon-based and US-based teams, including scheduling meetings, coordinating workflows, and ensuring timely deliverables.
  • Support program implementation ensuring donor compliance and operational excellence when handling administrative, programmatic, and operational tasks.
  • Active participation in internal and external meetings, including developing of agenda, preparing and sharing meeting minutes, facilitating the presentation or PowerPoint slides, conducting follow-ups as needed, among others.
  • Provide at-needed administrative backstop support to the local team and US-based staff
  • Support in planning and logistics for a high-level, online symposium.
  • Be the main point of contact and liaise with key program partners

Stakeholder outreach and awareness raising

  • Lead on stakeholder outreach within Beirut, garnering support and raising awareness for the program, getting stakeholder buy-in and feedback, helping to secure participation for the online symposium, etc.
  • Draft, craft and tailor communication and outreach materials related to the program, supporting to build awareness
  • Conduct outreach and follow-ups with potential partners, building relationships and the user database.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s accepted, but preferably an advanced degree in International Relations or International Development, International Relations, Disaster Management, Urban Planning or related field.
  • At least 3 years of work experience within the international development and humanitarian assistance sector.
  • Prior experience working with the UN, USAID, the World Bank, or other multilateral partners highly desired.
  • Excellent communicator with strong writing skills and a high attention to detail; professional fluency in English and Arabic is a must.
  • Creative, resourceful self-starter and multi-tasker with excellent organization and planning skills, as well as the ability to be flexible, problem solve independently and work well with remote, global teams.
