Addressing Child Trafficking and Slavery (ACTS) Project

Hope for Justice is a global charity working to end human trafficking/modern slavery by preventing exploitation, rescuing victims, restoring lives and reforming society. **

The Addressing Child Trafficking and Slavery (ACTS) project will deliver an integrated suite of activities at multiple levels in order to address issues surrounding the commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking of children in Kampala. It will aim to reduce vulnerability of children and households to trafficking and exploitation through sustainable reintegration and economic strengthening, standardize trauma-informed care for survivors of trafficking across multiple structures to enable better support and navigation through justice systems and referral services. It will also ensure practitioners respond effectively to victims and survivors of trafficking through engagement with and immersive training in trauma-informed care models.

Responsibilities

Hope for Justice is seeking a person to lead in implementing all project livelihoods activities. The Livelihoods Officer will be responsible for improving the wellbeing of reintegrating girls and their families by empowering them with business knowledge and skills, support them build income generating businesses therefore enabling sustainable reintegration and reduced vulnerability to trafficking. The key responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: -

· Design and develop a Livelihoods model for reintegrating families.

· Facilitate business skills training for girls based at the Hope for Justice Lighthouse.

· Liaise with Project Social Workers to identify reintegrating girls and their families to be supported through livelihoods programme.

· Support reintegrating girls and their families in developing business plans, social enterprises and income generation.

· Support reintegrating girls and family businesses access further resourcing (linkages, follow-up,

coaching, among others)

· Conduct regular follow up visits to support beneficiaries and their families.

· Conduct regular mapping of critical service points for partnerships as well as make referral for these

services

· Compile quality progress reports according to donor requirements

· Document and share lessons learned and best practices of the livelihoods aspects to inform roll out of livelihood strategies on a wider scale

Required Qualifications

· A degree in a relevant field, preferably in Development Studies, Economy or Socio-Economic Development, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship.

· Practical experience in developing income generating activities (IGAs), small and micro enterprises (SMEs) and other innovative approaches to humanitarian livelihoods.

· Experience of facilitating business training.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

· Experience of working alongside key stakeholders in the community and other NGOs to achieve mutual goals.

· Understanding and experience of child protection.

· Capacity to write clear and relevant reports.

· Strong communication skills including oral presentation skills, interpersonal and relational skills

Location: To be based in Kampala, Uganda

Job Type: Full-time with extensive travel throughout the country

Duration: 21 months
