Overview of the Functions of the Post

The Liaison Officer works in the Office of the Director-General and reports to him.

He/she acts as the coordinator on governance issues and activities in the ODG’s office with specific tasks related to the planning of activities and events. The Liaison Officer facilitates and enables the communication between all ICCROM units and the ODG. In particular, he/she works in close collaboration with the Partnerships and Communication Unit to ensure proper coordination of ICCROM’s governance functions. He/she will ensure that timely and quality materials, reports, and publications are shared, internally and externally,  to advance mandated objectives while being the ODG’s focal point for planning and implementation of ICCROM’s Bureau, Council, Council committees  and General Assembly.  He/she supplies overall coordination for governance work and resources, and reports on all aspects of governance work at ICCROM in the ODG.

Key Accountabilities

  • Create and maintain effective cross-unit relationships to ensure better coordination of the ODG office particularly in relation to ICCROM’s governance bodies.
  • Contribute to the management of governance activities in ICCROM in compliance with adopted strategies and policies.
  • Assist in setting strategic priorities for the ODG and provide monitoring of the activities of the ODG.
  • In close collaboration with Partnership and Communication unit, provide necessary ODG operational support and interaction with governing bodies.
  • In collaboration with the Executive Assistant in the ODG, ensure the optimal planning of all  office activities
  • in cooperation with all units, assist in the preparation of needed communications, reports, presentations for Bureau, Member states  and Council events
  • Act as a liaison with the Government Departments of member states and the host country on matters related to governance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the staff member’s background and experience and the needs of the Organization.

Required Qualifications

Education

Minimum required:  advanced university degree in International Relations or a related field.

Requirements/Skills/Competencies

  • Expertise in, communications, publications, presentation advocacy and governance
  • Experience in supporting decision-making, problem-solving and analytics
  • Superior attention to detail with highly developed organizational skills
  • Collaborative with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across a diverse cross-section of people including Council and Bureau Members, Senior Managers and staff
  • Demonstrated sensitivity in handling confidential information
  • A genuine passion for cultural heritage and promoting its conservation
  • The ability to plan activities and achieve the outcomes required, delivering to high quality and within the agreed timeframe
  • Proactive and pragmatic approach to working with a variety of staff and stakeholders

Languages

  • English and French are the working languages of ICCROM. For this position, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. The knowledge of Italian and any other language is an added advantage.

Remuneration

The salary provided will be commensurate to the candidate’s experience and salary history.

The salary and the allowances are net of taxes but subject to various deductions such as the employee’s portion for medical insurance and contribution to the United Nations Pension Fund.
