The person needs to be able to identify inter-links between humanitarian, development and peacebuilding programming and coordination systems to immediately identify how to form allies and partnership to build CSOs' overarching coordination.  We are looking at someone who can source from their individual experiences to create common ground and buy-in among partners. You must be able lead and ensure that opportunities for CSOs; both in terms of funding and that other resources are maximised, including collaborating with other colleagues to make the best of opportunities for CSOs beyond meetings and events.

Experience: 

At least 7 years progressively responsible experience in designing and implementing capacity building initiatives for civil society, working with civil society networks and platforms, including regional ones is desirable. Experience in coordination in complex emergencies/recovery processes (experience in the Inter- agency Cluster Coordination system desired). Substantive and technical experience in capacity development, coaching, teaching, skills transfer. Knowledge and understanding of programme cycle management. Experience conducting institutional capacity and training needs assessments. Familiarity with the localization agenda. Experience working with, and building partnerships with governments, donors and civil society organizations internationally and in the field. Experience in the engaging and working with civil society groups in different countries and contexts. Experience working with the UN is an asset. Experience working on development and humanitarian projects implemented by national/international NGOs/UN bodies/ Government Experience in politically and conflict sensitive context with different political actors. Previous experience working in one or more of the Lake Chad Basin region countries  desired.

Education:

Master’s degree or equivalent in human rights, gender, international relations, international development, international law or other social science fields is required. A project/programme management certification would be an added advantage
