What We Are Looking for

ISGlobal is seeking a talented laboratory technician who is experienced in the use of molecular assays, mainly DNA extraction from different type of samples, PCR, nPCR, qPCR for the detection and quantification of the P.falciparum, for the MAMAH project.
The tasks will be developed in the malaria research laboratory at Centro Esther Koplowitz (CEK) in Barcelona, under the direct supervision of Mr Pau Cisteró, in the laboratory of Dr Alfredo Mayor. The candidate may not have specific experience in malaria PCR, but knowledge and experience about Real-time quantitative PCR (qPCR) technique is necessary. Training on P.falciparum qPCR will be provided.

Required

  • FP2 (vocational trainning) or graduate in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biology or similar areas

Desired

  • At least one-year experience in the field
  • Experience in qPCR with Taqman probes

Specific Duties

  • Organize and manage the sample biobank
  • Handling of DBS samples
  • DNA extraction from DBS samples
  • Detection of P.falciparum by real-time quantitative PCR (qPCR) targeting 18S rRNA
  • Analysis of obtained results
  • Preparation of documentation as assigned
  • Additional technical duties as assigned

Conditions

  • Duration : 1st February 2022- 30th October 2022 (9 months)
  • Starting date: 1st February 2022
  • Contract: full-time during 9 months, possibility of contract extension. Part-time candidates will also be considered
  • Salary Range: Salary conditions will be based on candidate profile.

During the crisis caused by COVID19, standard working conditions will be adapted to sanitary requirements.
