NORCAP is a part of NRC and contributes to solving key challenges within the humanitarian, development, and peace-building sectors in order to make a change for people in need. Since 2005 and 2007 respectively, NRC NORCAP and OCHA have jointly managed the Inter-Agency Gender Standby Capacity Project “GenCap” and the Protection Standby Capacity Project “ProCap”, with the aim of developing and strengthening capacity in humanitarian operations to ensure gender equality and protection is central in humanitarian action, through providing technical and strategic support and expertise.

What You Will Do:

You will work closely with the Head of Operations and the ProCap and GenCap Technical Reference Groups to ensure quality delivery of the project’s activities. You will be responsible to ensure coherent monitoring and reporting on the ProCap and GenCap strategies/roadmaps in connection to field deployments and in cooperation with partners and stakeholders on regional and global levels.

You will also be responsible to ensure that learning and best practices are captured and shared in the projects. 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for providing advice on the implementation of the projects’ plans and activities based on the projects’ monitoring and reporting system, to improve sustainability of the projects’ investment. Promote consistency and effectiveness in MEL reporting and knowledge sharing, through the development of approaches and tools, tailored to diverse needs and contexts. Responsible for overseeing the projects’ capacity development activities on regional and global levels, in coordination with partners, and aligned with the projects’ Theory of Change Lead the development and implementation of processes, systems and tools for capturing good practice and lessons learnt from project implementation and field deployments. Provide input to financial, project management and talent management to ensure adequate resources and capacities for the implementation of deployment plans in accordance with the projects’ Theory of Change. Provide technical/strategic input and recommendations to senior project management, on the basis of good practice and lessons learnt from project implementation and field deployments. Promote innovation and learning in the projects’ communities of practice and broader community, through convening events and identifying global opportunities for knowledge sharing. Participate in the relevant Communities of Practice and actively interact with relevant stakeholders to share case studies, lessons learned and best practice. Will oversee and keep abreast with global trends, develop networks and partnerships relevant for job responsibilities

What you will bring 

Advanced University Degree in Project Management, Business Administration, social science or another relevant degree. Advanced knowledge and expertise in knowledge management and result-based management. Knowledge and expertise within Capacity Development and Learning and documented progressive experience in this field Influences and motivates others, both internally and externally, in relation to their own area of expertise Documented experience from working at a strategic level and leading processes Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities Fluency in English, both written and verbal, knowledge of French an asset Strong communication skills, both written and oral A proven track record of being a well organised, timely and efficient manager Humanitarian programme experience within protection and gender equality at field level would be a strong advantage Experience from / knowledge of capacity development, roster management and development is considered an advantage Experience working with UN agencies. Knowledge of humanitarian coordination/the UN cluster system. Knowledge of protection and gender equality in humanitarian action.
