About United Nations University - International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH) UNU International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is the designated UN think tank on global health, serving as a policy translation hub for UN member states, agencies and programmes. It was established by a statute adopted by the Council of the United Nations University in December 2005. The Institute generates policy-relevant analysis by applying a gender lens to inform the development, implementation and evaluation of health programmes. UNU-IIGH also supports the capacity development of local decision-makers and stakeholders to engage effectively with global health challenges within the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The current work of the Institute includes conducting research, promoting policy change and facilitating policy implementation around a number of global health topics, including gender and health; maternal, sexual and reproductive health; decolonisation and global health governance; health systems policy; implementation research in health; digital health; communicable disease control; the commercial determinants of child health; and health equity. As a neutral convener, and leveraging its position within the UN, UNU-IIGH works with a network of academic, policy and civil society experts to serve as a platform for critical thinking and the exchange of knowledge and tools for policy influence and consensus-building. Responsibilities The Knowledge Management & Communications Manager will have primary responsibility for delivering and monitoring UNU-IIGH’s communication and dissemination work, managing the institution’s convening activities, coordinating information and knowledge management within UNU-IIGH, managing the application of IIGH’s learning systems and platforms, and performing other tasks as assigned by the Director. The Knowledge Management & Communications Manager will work closely with the Programme Support and Research teams to: Convene activities that enable the implementation of the UNU-IIGH strategy: • Work with internal and external partners to organise, convene, and manage in-person and virtual policy dialogues • Work with the research team to deliver project-specific webinars and seminar series • Support capacity-building activities and management of the e-learning platform Manage information from monitoring, evaluation and learning systems: • Establish and implement processes to enable monitoring and evaluation of policy dialogues, seminars/webinars and capacity-building activities • Oversee the management of information within the organisation, including the update and maintenance of the Institute’s contributions to UNU Collections • Ensure that the information needs of the organisation are met in a timely, effective, and efficient manner, including through the design of systems for efficient storage and retrieval of information Oversee and implement the communication and dissemination strategy: • Work with the research and programme team in the development and packaging of information to be disseminated to internal and external partners in an effective manner • Work with the Director on the production of the UNU-IIGH Annual Report and reporting to the UNU-IIGH International Advisory Board • Manage and curate UNU IIGH mailing lists • Assume editorial responsibility for communications content, including blogs, news articles, video series • Oversee UNU-IIGH’s online platforms, including websites and social media, monitor and analyse digital data indicators, develop quarterly reports, and provide recommendations to increase online traffic and engagement • Serve as the institutional communications focal point, representing UNU-IIGH in inter-institutional fora • Conduct regular evaluations of communications impact, and adjust the strategy as needed • Perform other tasks assigned by the supervisor Competencies Values: Inclusion — take action to create an environment of dignity and respect for all, regardless of age, culture, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, gender expression, geography, grade, language, nationality, racial identity, religion, sex, sex characteristics, sexual orientation, social origin or any other aspect of identityIntegrity — act ethically, demonstrating the standards of conduct of the United Nations and taking prompt action in case of witnessing unprofessional or unethical behaviour, or any other breach of UN standardsHumility — demonstrate self-awareness and willingness to learn from othersHumanity — act according to the purposes of the United Nations: peace, dignity and equality on a healthy planet Behaviours: Connect and collaborate — build positive relationships with others to advance the work of the United Nations and work coherently as One UNAnalyse and plan — seek out and use data from a wide range of sources to understand problems, inform decision-making, propose evidence-based solutions and plan actionDeliver results with positive impact — hold oneself and others accountable for delivering results and making a positive difference to the people and causes that the United Nations servesLearn and develop — pursue own learning and development and contribute to the learning and development of othersAdapt and innovate — demonstrate flexibility, agility and the ability to think and act in novel ways

RequirementsRequired Qualifications and Experience: An advanced University Degree (Masters) in Knowledge Management, Media, Journalism or a related fieldMinimum five (5) years of work experience in project or programme management, or related area, preferably in an academic institution, research think-tank, international organisation or NGOThree (3) to five (5) years of experience in the communications field, planning, writing, editing, and producing communications through a variety of print and online mediaExperience managing websites and social media. Preferably familiar with WordPress and Google Analytics experience Experience with webinars and online learning platforms, preferably with photography and/or video production skills Experience in working with a large range of stakeholders, including donors and partners in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment Excellent oral and written communication skills. Fluency in English is essential. Knowledge of another official UN language is a significant advantageExceptional interpersonal and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to convey messages through clear and concise communicationStrong attention to detail High level of competency with MS Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Other Desirable Skills: Experience with StreamYard, Canva or other design software Able to understand Peoplesoft or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) system Remuneration and Duration of Contract The successful candidate will be employed under an International Personnel Service Agreement (PSA) contract and no relocation allowances apply. UNU offers an attractive compensation package, including an annual net salary in the range of USD59,151 – USD62,024, commensurate with the candidate's experience and qualifications. Benefits include 30 days annual leave (2.5 working days per month) and a health insurance scheme. The duration of the initial contract is for 6 months. This is a PSA contract with UNU, with the possibility for renewal subject to requirements and satisfactory work performance. The combined duration of a PSA contract with UNU may not exceed six (6) years. The mandatory age of retirement for PSA holders is 65 years. UNU is not liable for any taxes that may be levied on the remuneration you receive under this contract. Payment of any such taxes remains the sole responsibility of PSA holders.
