Background

The OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) is the principal institution of the OSCE responsible for the human dimension.

The ODIHR's activities are implemented in 57 participating States in accordance with ODIHR's mandate. ODIHR provides support, assistance and expertise to participating States and civil society to promote democracy, rule of law, human rights and tolerance and non-discrimination. Established within the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights among its five thematic programmes the Contact Point for Roma and Sinti Issues (CPRSI) acts as a focal point for reviewing the implementation of OSCE commitments relating to Roma and Sinti and for facilitating contacts between participating States, international and non-governmental organizations and OSCE institutions. Tasks and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of Chief of the Contact Point for Roma and Sinti Issues, the consultant will perform the following tasks:

1. Reviewing publications, reports, papers and other documents;

2. Supporting the organization of meetings and events;

3. Compiling statistics, updating internal databases; assisting with the maintenance, presence and dissemination of information on the clearing house channels and networks of the CPRSI;

4. Contributing to producing assessments, briefing papers and reports;

5. Assisting with outreach activities;

6. Handling emails and other inquiries;

7. Performing administrative tasks as assigned;

8. Undertaking any other tasks related to the CPRSI's program outline as directed by the supervisor;

9. Working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals.

Necessary Qualifications

  • At least a completed secondary education;
  • Professional fluency in English, both oral and written, and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely is mandatory; knowledge of other OSCE official languages, including of Romani language is considered an asset;
  • At least 2 years of relevant working experience;
  • Working experience on Roma and Sinti related issues, including on Roma and Sinti youth and women's issues;
  • Experience in working at local level, including in activities related to community or civil society mobilization is considered an asset;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people of different national and cultural backgrounds whilst maintaining impartiality and objectivity;
  • Demonstrated open-mindedness, flexibility, high motivation and readiness to take on challenges;
  • Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the Contact Point for Roma and Sinti Issues, with a personal commitment to the principles of the Action Plan for the Roma and Sinti.

Remuneration Package

Remuneration will depend on the selected consultant's qualifications and experience and be in accordance with OSCE established rates.
