As a UNFPA Junior Professional Officer, you would be joining the efforts to eliminate sexual violence in conflict. VERY IMPORTANT: This position is funded by the government of Sweden and is only open to nationals from the list of Swedish Development Partner Countries in the detailed requirements for this position.
Background
The UNFPA Junior Professional Officer (JPO) Programme is intended to provide on-the-job training for young professionals who wish to obtain practical experience in development assistance. It gives them an opportunity to acquire professional knowledge in population projects in a developing country.
UNDP Bosnia and Herzegovina has a long-standing experience in various projects supporting vulnerable women and youth. The current 6-year Conflict-Related Sexual Violence project is in the phasing out stage in 2021, while efforts to address the fragile GBV structure, exposed during the Covid-19 pandemic. The work on CRSV has exposed the need for greater involvement of youth in efforts to combat stigma against CRSV survivors, as well the need for wider peace and reconciliation efforts.
UNDP BiH will continue to support both processes relating to empowerment of women, and infrastructure to support survivors, while at the same time supporting transformative approaches towards peace and reconciliation.
Methodology of Supervision:
The UNFPA Representative and/or UNFPA Assistant Representative, and the JPO Focal Point at the UNFPA Headquarters for career development and administrative issues.
Content and Methodology of Supervision: 1. Job-related guidance in a timely, constructive and appropriate manner is provided on a continuous basis.
2. The functions of all staff and what is required of the JPO and how this relates to the overall mandate of UNFPA will be explained.
3. All necessary information, rules, policies, equipment and other tools required will be provided.
4. The JPO will have opportunities to use his/her skills and abilities fully and to contribute to the work of the office to the best of his/her abilities.
5. Supervisors will take an overall interest in the JPO’s development and provide encouragement and advice on how the JPO can realize his/her potential.
6. There will be opportunities for the JPO to express his/her views on work-related matters.
