Under the guidance of the Chief, Private Partnerships, the Islamic Philanthropy High Value Donors Officer develops and implement the strategy to enlarge the basket of High Value Donors focus on Islamic Giving worldwide, with a specific attention to MENA region, Islamic Asian countries, such as large Islamic communities/diaspora around the world. In particular, the incumbent will define and implement a specific acquisition strategy for enlarging the Islamic Philanthropy portfolio, analyzing the market, preparing specific contact plans and cases for support, cultivating high-level relationships to increase their value for UNRWA, with a specific focus on Islamic entities like Islamic Bank and Zakat entities (bodies). In cooperation with the rest of Private Philanthropy team, the incumbent will design and provide proposals, reporting and concept notes, following a donor centric perspective, supported by a solid data driven approach. The post holder will accomplish this through analyzing performance data, monitoring global Islamic philanthropy trends, and facilitating the engagement of HVDs around the world, managing all the prospecting and profiling activities, identifying and building relationships with new prospective donors, reinforcing relationship with the existing ones.

Expected duration

To start as soon as possible till the end of Dec. 2022, with a possible extension in 2023. Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the acquisition strategy to increase High Value Donors portfolio, with a specific focus on Islamic Philanthropy, in coordination with colleagues in the regional teams as well as Private Partnerships team;
• Identifying and developing strategic partnership and fundraising opportunities amongst Islamic charities and foundations through research, outreach and cultivation of relationships
• Manage and enlarge contact with leading Islamic financial institutions, with the aim to collaborate for the promotion and receipt of multi-year funds, primarily Zakat and Sadaqah, towards UNRWA's programs
• Lead partnership portfolio of High Value Donors interested in Zakat/Islamic Giving in close cooperation with the rest of Private Philanthropy team;
• Manage all the prospecting and profiling activities, as well as the due diligence process for new Islamic Philanthropy partnerships;
• Identify and research HNWIs, Foundations and other Islamic entities with an expected inclination to support UNRWA
• Manage Islamic Philanthropy partnership, stewardship and cultivation plans, in coordination with the Private Philanthropy Loyalty Officer;
• Monitor the market, looking at new trends in Islamic giving, catching new business opportunities aligned with the UNRWA Private Partnerships strategy;
• Work in close collaboration with the rest of the External Relations teams and with relevant fields, to design and develop cases for support, concept notes and proposals for new/potential Islamic Philanthropy Donors;
• Consolidate and timely submit donor proposals and donor reports
• Monitoring the related income, analyzing results and adapting the new business strategy accordingly
• Develop customized Islamic Giving Donors’ Journeys and specific cases for support
• Monitoring partners retention rates and proactively manage partners at risk of disengagement
• In close cooperation with the Chief of Private Partnerships, set the annual income goals and define the action plan accordingly. Provide quarterly reports and analysis on Islamic Philanthropy portfolio, in close coordination with the CRM & Data Analysis Coordinator
• Contribute to Digital Islamic Giving strategy in close cooperation with the Digital team;
• Liaising between National Committees and relevant internal departments in support of their Islamic Giving activities;
• Participate in inter-agency and private sector meetings and events as required by the Chief of PPD;
• Participate in donor meetings and conferences where relevant and as required by the Chief of PPD; Qualifications/special skills

Academic Qualifications:
• A university degree from an accredited educational institution in Business Management, Communication, Marketing, International Relations, Journalism, Social Sciences, or another relevant field is required.
• Alternatively, a first-level University degree in a relevant field combined with 7 years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.

Experience:
• Minimum of 6 years relevant professional work experience in private sector fundraising is required.
• Minimum of 2 continuous years of relevant international experience outside UNRWA’s areas of operations and outside the country(s) of which the candidate is a national or holds citizenship, a passport or a national identity number.
• Strong experience in acquisition and management of High Value Donors in Islamic Philanthropy
• Proven experience of identifying, developing, and securing a new business pipeline, including successfully securing new high value partnerships in the Islamic world
• Experience working in a team is required.
• An Islamic legal background is desirable

Skills:
• Excellent knowledge of the main Islamic giving technicalities and Islamic Philanthropy strategies
• Track record of managing Islamic Philanthropy multi-million portfolio

Language:
• Fluency in English and Arabic is required

Additional Information

• The remuneration for this consultancy is $6,300 (equivalent to P3 level).
• The consultant will be based in Amman/Jordan with the possibility to evaluate remote working
