Job description

Energising Development (EnDev) is a global energy access partnership programme financed by four donors. The EnDev Malawi country portfolio includes various components to provide energy access to the different target groups (households, social institutions (schools and health care facilities) and MSMEs (especially focussing on agricultural processing), financed by EnDev core donors as well as co-financed by other donors.

EnDev Malawi has long-standing core-components on (1) market development for improved cookstoves and (2) for high-quality, stand-alone solar products. An Icelandic co-financed component (3) on energizing social institutions and promotion of a fuel-efficient fish processing stove was successfully implemented and is now going into the second phase. The (4) Energising Health component intensifying solarization of health institutions and provision of solar direct-drive refrigerators is implemented under a special Health fund of BMZ. The implementation of the EU co-financed component (5) on market development for stand-alone productive use of energy solutions has just started. The same applies to the component (6) on larger-scale investments for productive use of energy solutions in agricultural economy funded by Global Energy Access for People and Planet (GEAPP). The component (7) on demand side subsidies (DSS) for improved cookstoves and stand-alone solar products for leave-no-one-behind beneficiaries is funded by the Dutch government and is implemented in close cooperation with WB.

Your tasks

Your main tasks as an intern include supporting the program in day-to-day business:

content and logistical preparation and follow-up of meetings workshops and field visits research on the topics of energy from renewable resources, renewable energy for productive use, cooking energy, sustainable market development and electrification of social institutions assist with the reporting, external presentation and impact monitoring of the programme if necessary, you will participate in field visits in the districts

Your profile

You are studing in the third semester or higher in the field of renewableenergy, agriculture, social science, economics or acomparable relevant qualification Initial experience in the development sector, preferably in the energy sector, is an asset Knowledge and experience in project management/implementation is an asset Ability to think and act strategically and analytically, fastunderstanding of complex situations, problem solvingmindset with the ability to prioritize A high level of engagement, team spirit and reliability as well as intercultural andgender sensitivity Strong writing and oral presentation skills in English German language skills are an asset

Please be informed that you are only allowed to apply for this internship, if you are currently enrolled as a student or graduated not longer than six months ago from the start of your internship.

We pay a monthly stipend of €2.064,- (gross). Depending on the country of assignment a monthly expatriation allowance (gross), predetermined by GIZ will be paid on top.
