Job description

The programme “Promoting efficient and transparent local governance in Zambia” is funded by the Federal German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development to support Zambia’s decentralisation process. The programme partners at the national level with the Decentralisation Secretariat, the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, the Local Government Association of Zambia, the Chalimbana Training Institute, and at the local level with the local governments in Southern Province and Luapula Province to: (1) support to the further conceptionalization of decentralisation, (2) strengthening the capacities of local governments in development processes, (3) improving citizen participation in local development processes, (4) improving local public service delivery and (5) enhancing offers for capacity building in local governance. The programme is currently looking for an intern to support the programme in its general operational activities with a focus on a campaign to promote COVID vaccinations

Your tasks

During your internship you will support the following tasks:

Assistance in the general day to day business of the project team and take on organisational tasks Assistance in the roll-out of a campaign to promote COVID vaccinations Support the development of communication materials such as factsheets, presentations and other publication materials General support to various research/survey activities of the programme, data collection and analysis Participation in the implementation of knowledge management and corresponding IT measures Assistance in public relations activities Support for the organisation of workshops and capacity building events, including preparation of presentations and follow-up event documentation

Your profile

You are studying in the third semester or higher in Political or Social Sciences, Public Administration, Development Studies, or comparable studies Very good organisational and communicative skills, ability to work in a team, a high degree of independence and commitment as well as strong intercultural competence First professional experience in the field of governance, decentralisation, rule of law is desirable Fluency in German and English with excellent written and oral skills are required

Please be informed that you are only allowed to apply for this internship, if you are currently enrolled as a student or graduated not longer than six months ago from the start of your internship.

We pay a monthly stipend of €1.689,- (gross). Depending on the country of assignment a monthly expatriation allowance (gross), predetermined by GIZ will be paid on top.
