Job description

The objective of the Better Migration Management (BMM) III programme is to enable national authorities and institutions to facilitate safe, orderly and regular migration and effectively address and reduce the trafficking in human beings and the smuggling of migrants within and from the Horn of Africa region through a human-rights-based approach.
The Programme is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-financed by the European Union and is commissioned from October 2022 to September 2025. The implementation is facilitated through an Implementing Partnership consisting of IOM, UNODC, CIVIPOL, British Council, and the lead agency GIZ. The programme’s interventions target countries in the Horn of Africa region, i.e. Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, and Uganda.

Your tasks

During your internship you will support the following tasks:

Assisting in the preparation of studies, surveys and other research assignments Collecting and filing relevant activity documentation in MS teams Supporting knowledge management system, institutional learning and M&E Supporting the development and introduction on new M&E tools and documents Supporting the mainstreaming of cross-cutting themes such as e.g. gender, human rights and do-no-harm Assisting in the collection and verification of activity-based beneficiary data from all Implementing Partners across the BMM partner countries Contributing to reporting to the commissioning parties and other stakeholders Contributing to any other task assigned by the Programme Director

Your profile

At least 2 years of university studies in Political Science, Social Sciences, Economics, development studies and related Interest in programme management Monitoring and Evaluation of projects Knowledge of project-cycle management desirable Fluency in written and spoken English and French, German and Arabic is an asset Previous experience in international cooperation and/or development cooperation preferred Previous experience in research and/or administrative positions is an asset Previous experience in sub-Sahara Africa is an asset Very good organisational and planning skills based on past work or school experiences

Please be informed that you are only allowed to apply for this internship, if you are currently enrolled as a student or graduated not longer than six months ago from the start of your internship. Candidates must also hold a Belgian work permit, which in case of non-EU nationality must be uploaded when applying.

We pay a monthly stipend of €1.350,- (gross).
