The Office of the United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is
the Secretariat department responsible for strengthening international human rights mechanisms; enhancing equality and countering discrimination; combating impunity and strengthening accountability and the rule of law; integrating human rights in development and in the economic sphere; widening the democratic space; and early warning and protection of human rights in situations of conflict, violence and insecurity.

This announcement broadcasts international internship assignments with the OHCHR Tunisia Country Office. Attached to the Asia-Pacific, Middle East and North Africa
Branch (APMENAB) of the Field Operations and Technical Cooperation Division (FOTCD),, and in collaboration with other OHCHR entities, it is responsible for OHCHR's work in Tunisia. Throughout its various activities, the Office is supporting the Tunisian authorities, civil society organizations, the various national mechanisms/bodies mandated to protect and promote human rights and other relevant actors through the provision of technical cooperation, training, and advocacy. This role is undertaken with an inclusive and gender sensitive approach that ensures the meaningful participation of all stakeholders, in close cooperation with the United Nations Country Team (UNCT).

Based in Tunis, under the overall guidance of the Deputy Representative, the intern
reports to a Human Rights Officer. This assignment shall be offered for an initial period of three (3) months, renewable for a combined period of six (6) months, upon further approval by the supervisor, with an initial commencement date ranging/starting from January to June 2023.

The intern shall support OHCHR in fulfilling its mission: to work for the protection of all
human rights for all people; to help empower people to realize their rights; and to assist those
responsible for upholding such rights in ensuring that they are implemented.

Daily responsibilities of the Tunisia Country Office human rights intern will depend on activities being carried-out within the Office and the individual's background.

Duties may include but are not limited to assisting the Country Office in the systematic collection and analysis of information regarding the human rights situation in Tunisia and in the preparation of reports, documents and other written
materials and, in particular, the intern may: assist the Country Office in researching and drafting various notes, daily and monthly updates/reports or background materials on issues of human rights concern being monitored by the Office; support human rights officers in carrying out legal research and drafting thematic human rights briefers;; support human rights officers in the preparation and delivery of technical cooperation activities;; assist the head of office and human rights officers
in attending events and taking minutes of meetings; support the Country Office in compiling and managing data pertaining to human rights developments; and perform other related duties
as requested by supervisor, as appropriate. Competencies

Work Experience

internship fluency in French or English is required, knowledge of the other is desirable.

WORKING HOURS: Interns must adhere to the established weekly working hours of the
