Purpose of Assignment:
The proposed internship is a learning opportunity on issues related to climate change mitigation, adaptation and disaster risk reduction. The Intern shall be mentored by the Programme Officer, Risk & Resilience, UNKICEF Uttar Pradesh on issues related to climate change and disaster risk reduction in the context of children in Uttar Pradesh.
Major Tasks & Learning Activities:
Under the guidance and supervision of the Programme Officer, Risk & Resilience and oversight by the Chief of State Office of Uttar Pradesh, the intern shall perform the following Major Tasks:
Organize innovative stakeholder on climate change mitigation and adaptation engaging all key stakeholders in Uttar Pradesh; Review key government websites and communications related to climate change for identifying and flagging key issues and opportunities for partnerships and programming related to child centered climate action; Review the national and international news related to climate change and share relevant information with Disaster Rick & Resilience Section (news, updates, trend analysis); Any other learning activities as assigned.Learning Activities:
At the end of the assignment the intern will learn following:
Concept, principle and methods of Disaster Risk & Resilience (DRR). Clear idea regarding the structure, function, and importance of Disaster Risk Resilience related to climate change mitigation. Identification of key behaviors pertaining to child centered climate action. Reporting style of human-interest success stories.End of Internship:
At the end of the internship period, the intern will submit a final document encapsulating the activities undertaken.
Education Qualifications:
Be enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate or Ph.D programme or have graduated within the past two years with a focus on Environmental Management, Climate Change, Disaster Risk Management, Political Science, Sociology, Economics or any other relevant field; Relevant background in environmental protection, climate risk management/adaption, climate mitigation, sustainable energy, air pollution action; Fluency in English is required with very good writing skills; and Knowledge of Hindi is an asset. Willingness to travel to field sites (within and outside duty station), if needed.For every Child, you demonstrate
