Basmeh and Zeitooneh is looking to recruit a Humanitarian Affairs Consultant

Job Title: Humanitarian Affairs Consultant

Division/Department: Operations/ Projects

Reports to: Turkey Country Director/Syria Project Coordinator

Duration of Initial Contract: Full-time/ 4 Months with possibility for extension

Work Location: Gaziantep, TURKEY

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Daily overview and guidance of project activities, including tasking of field officers
  • Information channel to relevant stakeholders according to established protocol
  • Identification of opportunities for activity development and adjustment
  • Establishment of linkages with humanitarian coordination mechanisms and other field-based initiatives to ensure complementary and maximize impact, including with the ICCG
  • Channel requests/information to and from field officers from clusters or other stakeholders outside the coordination unit
  • Ensure monitoring of THF projects is carried out by field officers according to requests
  • Provide guidance to field officers on engaging with local stakeholders
  • Organize with field officers AAP-related initiatives and ensure AAP compliance
  • Lead on helping organize capacity building initiatives conducted by field officers
  • Participation in the security management and the duty of care of project staff
  • Lead in the evaluation and the capacity development of project staff, including in relation to trainings for field officers in Turkey
  • Submission of quarterly and final reports and support to HFO reporting if needed

Education and Experience Requirements:

Education: master’s degree or Relevant educational background in management, development studies or closely related fields and knowledge of the UN.

Experience:

· A minimum of 3 years of relevant management experience;

· At least 2 - 3 years of experience in Syrian Crisis response programs;

· At least 2 years of remote management and coordination experience

Language:

· Fluent English and Arabic

Required Skills:

· Knowledge and understanding of the complexity related to refugee and IDP situations.

· Excellent organizational and time management skills.

· Very high level of communication skills

· Advanced computer skills, specifically in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

· Good knowledge of cloud & data sharing applications (Google drive, Dropbox…).

· Ability to travel regionally

· Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills.

· High diplomacy, cultural sensitivity and security awareness.

· Excellent Reporting Skills.

· Develop and introduce vehicle/Transportation monitoring tools.

· Team work spirit.
