Summary of Job

The Health and Nutrition Program Manager (HNPM) is responsible for overseeing, managing, and ensuring the success of all Health and Nutrition projects in Kassala State. Responsibilities include procurement and distribution of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies to the identified recipient clinics. Other responsibilities are monitoring and evaluation, program planning, liaising with local government and non-governmental organization partners, staff capacity building, and internal liaising with senior staff. As necessary, the HNPM will train health staff for successful utilization of the pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, and Ready-to-use Therapeutic Food.

• Ensure the daily field-level execution of Health and Nutrition programs against all set objectives and targets within the agreed budgets and timeframes
• Oversee distribution of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies to pre-identified clinics
• Work with local health capacity to train on use, storage, and disposal of pharmaceuticals
• Work with local health clinics to report on use of pharmaceuticals and other health indicators on a predetermined regular basis
• Follow up with individual clinics to ensure proper utilization of the pharmaceuticals
• Provide weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports on the progress of Health and Nutrition programs
• Maintain adequate supply chains for Health and Nutrition supplies and ensure grant compliance in procurement process
• Assist in the development for Health and Nutrition proposals and project budgets, monitor effectiveness and financial expenditures, and evaluate ongoing and new activities
• Manage budget in compliance with donor regulations
• Lead, manage, and capacitate program staff
• Conduct field assessments, identifying potential needs, designing and implementing response plans and integrating into program development
• Attend daily morning devotions and participate in prayer support for the ministry, its donors and volunteers
• Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public
• Assess, manage, and report critical physical, emotional, or spiritual concerns of supervised staff
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or another relevant degree required; 2 to 3 years of relevant healthcare management experience in developing countries; related work experience in disaster context.**

• Nursing Degree and qualifications from an accredited school of nursing as well as a valid license to practice as a registered nurse
• 2-3 years nursing experience preferably pediatric and/or emergency medicine
• 1-2 years previous international public health experience, preferably in nutrition programming
• Management and capacity building experience of national staff in INGO programming
• Ability to work in austere conditions with few amenities or resources
• Willingness to travel in and out of field
• Practical, quick, reasoning skills; must be able to keep communication lines open with all parties in program of scheduling changes
• Organizational and time management skills
• Good interpersonal and written oral communication skills
• Ability to coordinate activities with other agencies, build and maintain positive working relationships
• Ability to understand complex security situation and advise program design accordingly
• Arabic a strong asset
