Role Overview

The Head of Monitoring Evaluation and Impact at Simprints is responsible for leading a cross-disciplinary unit within the Delivery team. This work will interface with every part of Simprints. You will be part of a passionate delivery team working together to solve some of the world's most intractable problems. In this role, you will be responsible for co-creating and implementing strategy with your team to shape and improve the way that both Simprints and our partners approach monitoring, evaluation and impact.

This role requires a UK working permit.

Develop MEI strategy, theory of change and accountability frameworks

  • Develop our Monitoring, Evaluation and Impact (MEI) strategy, clarifying our global impact pathway and framework, and outlining a phased approach to achieving deep, measurable impact. This will involve market and partner analyses, and close collaboration with our Chief Delivery Officer and the Delivery Team’s technical lead to ensure we are positioned to make meaningful contributions to program impact.
  • Co-create a comprehensive, integrated monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning service that can support large consortia, increasing data transparency, boosting efficiency, and improving accountability to ensure verified impact.
  • Build out our learning and accountability processes to provide meaningful information for adaptive programming, inform company improvement initiatives, and develop an evidence base for credible advocacy.
  • Contribute to the company-wide annual strategy and goal-setting process. Ensure business alignment through developing clear monitoring, evaluation, and learning goals for the MEI team. Further, develop team level monitoring frameworks to measure success and performance.
  • Develop a project portfolio performance framework, working closely with Project Managers to ensure that specific project indicators feed into a broader portfolio oversight framework.
  • Commission strategic research, evaluations and studies that contribute to our learning and innovation agenda and ensure continuous improvement in our strategic positioning.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Partnerships to ensure that our advocacy strategy (and approaches) are informed by and align with MEI priorities.

Implement MEI strategy and build MEI capacity across the Company

  • Lead MEI team, collaborating with team to develop and enhance team processes and implement team vision
  • Measure and report on Delivery-related goals at company and team level.
  • Lead the development and implementation of tools and processes to enable consistent monitoring and reporting across all projects, and support the company in accessing and understanding high-quality Simprints data.
  • Develop and implement processes to carry out regular implementation evaluations for projects, enhancing our ability to provide the most relevant troubleshooting support to our partners.
  • Develop and implement a system to routinise learning from project monitoring and evaluation, further enhancing our ability to support adaptive programming to maximise the impact of our projects.
  • Develop and implement processes to embed accountability, ensuring insights from learning supports continual improvements across the company by providing strategy, product and engineering, partnerships and delivery-related recommendations.
  • Collaborate directly with Engineers and Project Managers to ensure project data informs project and product decision-making, championing a culture of continuous learning.
  • Lead on delivering impact evaluations with our partners and coordinate external evaluators to assess outputs, outcomes and impact.
  • Develop project-specific theories of changes and ensure M&E frameworks, impact considerations and subsequent budget considerations are reflected in project proposals to our funding partners.
  • Develop a deep and wide network of global MEAL and Social Impact specialists. Support Simprints to join and participate in global alliances, forums and consortiums. Form strategic partnerships with other high impact organisations. Drive advocacy initiatives to position Simprints as a thought leader in the MEAL space within the international development sector.
  • As requested by the Director of Partnerships, directly support different fundraising activities, providing technical support and in-depth MEI expertise as part of any fundraising opportunity.

Lead on further enhancing our ability to ensure operational accuracy, conduct pre-deployment scenarios and post-deployment checks to ensure accuracy.

  • Lead an internal Impact Committee, deliver lunch and learn sessions, provide induction and coaching support to team members.
  • Ensure continued growth, learning and development for all MEI team members
