POSITION TITLE: GESI Coordinator

REPORTS TO: GESI Manager

JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the GESI Manager, the GESI (Gender Equality and Social Inclusion) Coordinator will perform the day-to-day activities of the project with emphasis on GESI and Crisis Centers’ Grants program activities. The duration of the contract is one year.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under the supervision of GESI Manager, GESI Coordinator:
    • Coordinates and manages the project’s Crisis Centers’ Grants program.
    • Contributes to implementation of the project GESI Strategy and community-level GESI action plans, and other activities aimed at integrating GESI in the programming; design and implement project activities that address the unique human rights challenges that women, girls, and other vulnerable groups face.
    • leads the project’s crisis centers’ work and extensive grants program aimed at building capacities of crisis centers across the country
    • supports GESI Manager to train project staff, partners, and stakeholders, on GESI integration and mainstreaming issues, tools, policies, and practices as relate to project objectives.
    • provides GESI-related technical inputs to project progress reports to the donor and other stakeholders.
    • collects and provides relevant information and data for the Jigerduu Jarandar project Media and Communications Manager and the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning unit.
    • collaborates with the MEL Team to conduct ongoing monitoring and analysis, ensuring program data is sufficiently disaggregated (e.g., by sex, age, ethnicity, social class, disability, location) for the purpose of reporting program progress against GESI-related indicators.
    • contributes to the development and refinement of tools, frameworks, and resources to promote full GESI integration in the project; ensure that all project activities, including advocacy and networking grants, and research efforts integrate GESI considerations and mainstream vulnerable and underrepresented groups.
    • identifies successful practices in the project that can be features in reports, publications, communication materials, and conferences.
    • coordinates GESI crisis centers’ grants programs throughout the entire project cycle: reviewing potential grantees’ project description for Program consistency; preparing grant packages of the potential grantees; coordinate and support the implementation of the grants; review grantees’ Progress Reports and deliverables for their compliance to grantees Program Description/Grant Agreement requirements; organize and facilitate online RRG program coordination meetings, joint workshops, and trainings for the awardees. In Coordination with Grants Manager/GESI Manager conduct field visits to monitor activity implementation by grantees, as needed; prepare reports on the results of field visits to monitor grantee activities.
    • Provides daily assistance to the GESI and Grants Managers.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

      TYPE AND NATURE OF CONTACTS:

      Frequent interaction with project leaders, administrative, and other staff.

      MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

      • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in the relevant subject area(s), preferably in gender, social work, international development, or community development required; Master’s degree preferred;
      • Five (5) years of experience in designing, managing, and implementing activities to promote gender equality and social inclusion, especially youth and disability inclusion. Experience with women’s economic empowerment projects preferred;
      • Technical expertise in gender equality as well as youth and disability inclusion;
      • Demonstrated ability to ensure GESI integration in project design, implementation, and M&E;
      • Experience developing and delivering GESI-themed content in training materials preferred;
      • Experience in GESI-focused assessments, training, and organizational capacity-building preferred;
      • Familiarity with GESI-related issues and barriers within the Kyrgyz Republic context.
      • Ability to navigate culturally sensitive terrain and maintain constructive and collaborative relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders;
      • Relevant computer software skills (including, at a minimum, the standard applications in MS Office);
      • Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private company;
      • Strong oral and written communication skills in Kyrgyz, Russian and proficiency in English required.
      • Prior team lead experience preferred.
