• To identify the existing or potential market opportunities for women in formal or informal self-employment and the skills and attributes needed in the market (by employers or employees). These include opportunities for entrepreneurship, formal/informal livelihoods.
  • To identify the vocational and life/employability skills currently available to the private / public / informal sectors for women. This includes vocational, artisan, and digital skills for employment
  • Identify barriers facing women in the market and opportunities for women to further engage in economic activities in the ABLI-G project. The analysis will consider market environment factors which include information, training, mentorship/coaching, coordination, finance, labour laws, policy gaps, gender norms, skills recognition standards, social norms and informal rules.
  • To identify partners or potential for collaboration with other actors on the topic of women’s economic empowerment/market engagement, including the private sector and/or public sector. The analysis will identify and understand stakeholders who can overcome the identified barriers to women’s engagement in the market and help bridge the gap between demand and supply. These include businesses to host apprenticeships for women and/or mapping and capacity assessment of local TVET centers to host/integrate more women participants/market actors.
  • To provide strategic guidance or recommendations on project design based on the findings of the gender market analysis to enhance equitable outcomes.
  • Extensive skills in market assessments and analysis, including value chain analysis and inclusive market systems analysis.
  • Knowledge of cash and voucher assistance programming and market-based approaches.
  • Experience in youth livelihoods programming, preferably in humanitarian contexts.
  • Strong understanding of humanitarian principles, standards, codes of conduct
  • Understanding of gender and protection issues pertaining to displaced populations
  • Knowledge of refugee and IDP related policies, frameworks and guidelines for humanitarian actors.
  • Computer literate and good working knowledge of remote meeting tools and approaches.
  • Strong remote/ virtual group facilitation and interview skills
  • Ability to relate to people from all levels and walks of life
  • Willing to travel and work in remote, difficult and at times insecure areas
  • Very high standard of spoken and written English. Proficiency in Somali language is an added advantage
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience conducting research including market assessments and analysis, desk reviews or evaluations.
