• Conducts thorough analysis and research of the gender dimension in political, social and economic situation in the country and collaborates in preparation/revision of project documents, AWP and other documents in the area of work;
  • Identifies, in close collaboration with national and international partners, programme areas of cooperation on gender issues;
  • Prepares gender strategy in cooperation with programme teams;
  • Provides inputs for provision of policy options on specific to-be-defined development issues to governments and other development actors;
  • Facilitates assessment of the country’s policies and their impact on women’s economic empowerment, social cohesion and SDG design;
  • Researches and provides inputs to UNDP management and programme portfolio teams on cross-cutting issues and implications on UNDP programme and project design, policy advice, and collaborative approaches;
  • Facilitates research and analysis on specific and topical human development issues, (e.g. social cohesion, women’s economic empowerment, SDG programme design and approaches);
  • Designs and formulates gender components of UNDP programme translating gender priorities into local interventions and ensuring coordination and networking with clients, stakeholders and programme partners;
  • Monitors gender implementation across projects, synthesizing progress against indicators and preparing reports
  • Prepares and shares regularly contextual analysis.
  • Provides component leadership, technical guidance, oversight and quality control of program operations from planning, budgeting to implementation and monitoring and evaluation, ensuring that results are delivered in accordance with work plan, standards, allocations, framework and rules and regulations;
  • Supports effective application of RBM tools, establishment of management targets and monitoring achievement of result, as quality assurance, ROAR, IWP etc.;
  • Maintains regular contact with project and programme counterparts under his/her supervision in order to ensure monitoring of projects' progress, monitoring of unit work plans, programme effectiveness and achievement of results;
  • Participates in recruitment, and is responsible for performance and supervision of project staff;
  • Promotes cross component and cross programme collaboration
  • Represents UNDP at national events;
  • Organizes and manages UNDPs role as co/chair in various gender working groups led by donors, government or other coordination mechanisms;
  • Engages publicly by giving speeches and speaking in public forums; prepares and/or provides input to speeches by CO senior management;
  • Provides input and supports engagement to policy dialogue on cross-cutting issues with the Government, donors, civil society, private sector and contributes to development of policies as relevant;
  • Contributes to implementation to  CO partnerships and resource mobilization strategy to support achievement of gender mainstreaming;
  • Researches and analyses information on existing and new partners;
  • Develops ideas and concepts for possible areas of cooperation;
  • Establishes close working relationships and creates programmatic linkages with relevant government agencies; UN Agencies, IFI’s, bi-lateral and multi-lateral donors, private sector and civil society as guided by the supervisor;
  • Identifies funding opportunities for ongoing and new projects
  • Identifies sources of information related to gender issues; identifies and synthesizes best practices and lessons learned directly linked to gender mainstreaming goals;
  • Coordinates and ensures gender integration in project design, inputs in  development of policies, institutions and advocacy that will address the country problems and needs in gender, in collaboration with the Government and other strategic partners;
  • Supports the establishment of advocacy networks at national level and linked to international networks;
  • Implements relevant, high-impact advocacy campaigns with key partners;
  • Ensures that lessons learned are captured and recorded into the CO knowledge networks;
  • Ensures provision of top quality advisory services and facilitation of knowledge building
  • Minimum of 2 years with Master’s degree or 4 years with Bachelor degree of progressively advancing experience in gender programmes and project management in international development organizations and/or bilateral development agencies. Experience with the UN system is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing gender projects and mainstreaming gender into programming.
  • Experience in public speaking and representing organization in public forums, committees and other external partnerships.
  • Demonstrated experience in monitoring gender achievements and reporting. 
  • Proven ability to work in multi-cultural teams. 
  • Programme/project management experience with sound knowledge of all aspects of the project cycle (design, implementation, monitoring & evaluation).
  • Fluency in the written and spoken English and Myanmar

Contract Duration: 1 Year with possibility for extension
