Context

LHR is a non-religious, non-political, non-profit humanitarian organization with the mission of providing immediate crisis response, as well as long term relief, for the most vulnerable groups in a dignified, respectful and empowering manner.

Sports is one of the most crucial psychosocial tools that LHR offers to young residents of Ritsona Camp, a universal language that bridges differences and allows for relationship and skills building. Thanks to LHR’s sports programming, residents can access continuous psychosocial support, through structured opportunities for social interaction, learning, and play.

Children in Ritsona camp, from 6 to 15 years old, benefit from several sports-related activities, including: traditional sports sessions; Inclusive version of traditional sports activities; Inclusive games.

Position Summary

Football is unquestionably the favourite sport of children and young people in Ritsona Camp, therefore LHR is looking for a highly motivated Football Coach Intern, with experience in implementing football sessions and trainings, available from May 2021 to end of November 2021.

Despite the difficulties caused by the coronavirus pandemic, which have imposed the suspension of activities several times during this past year, LHR is looking at the restart of the football sessions with optimism, subject to the expected lifting of Coronavirus restrictions and continuous safety assessments.

Key responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Minimum age: 23 years old

  • Bachelor or Master University degree in education, child development, sport sciences, international development studies, international relations, human rights, social work or a related field;

  • Previous experience working with children and youth;

  • Previous experience implementing football sessions, proven by references and/or certificates;

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment;

  • High level of flexibility;

  • Ability to adapt to a culturally diverse context and work cross-linguistically;

  • Good level of knowledge of the English language;

  • Minimum expected commitment: May 2021 to November 2021 (with flexibility).

Desired

  • UEFA training participation certificate (any level);

  • Volunteering / Working Experience with NGO(s);

  • Arabic / Kurdish / Farsi / French language skills;

  • Manual driving license.
