Action against Hunger is an international non-governmental, private, apolitical, non-religious and non-profit organization created in 1979. Its goal is to combat hunger and dangerous situations that threaten men, women and children. Currently 500 expats and more than 5,000 employees are working for Action against Hunger in more than forty-six countries working in projects concerning four areas of focus: nutrition & health, water, sanitation & hygiene, food security & livelihoods and emergency response.

GENERAL DEPARTMENT OBJECTIVES

As part of the Production Department, this position must cover gaps and ensure direct support to the field projects and programs throughout the project cycle: a) identification, b) planning, c) execution, d) monitoring and e) evaluation. It is important to ensure the projects execution with frequent displacements and direct field work.

The Flying Food Security Ans Livelihoods Expert will also perform internal evaluations, participate in context diagnoses, support the capitalization and dissemination of good practices, promoting good practices in management and technical approaches.

Las principales actividades que desempeñaras son las siguientes:

  • Monitors, frequently in the mission, that all the projects contain the planification, execution and management tools throughout the project cycle.
  • Projects and contracts data consolidation.
  • Provides support throughout the project cycle, from the identification and design phase to the execution, monitoring and ensuring the coherence and technical quality.
  • Covers gaps and ensures direct field support.
  • Provides technical knowledge to the field teams and ensures the application of protocols and methodologies according to their technical competence. Identify technical development needs and implementation problems.
  • Participates in the planning, measurement and monitoring of operations with the production team.
  • Participates in the intervention modeling processes. Identifies good practices and lessons learned to achieve technical development and training needs update.
  • Participates in the selection processes, briefing and debriefing of project managers and other technical profiles.
  • Maintains direct communication with the heads of the Technical Departments, warning about methodologies weaknesses, new technical development needs and identified obstacles in the intervention modalities.

  • Specific knowledge in technical subjects (engineering, rural development, environment ...) or other relevant. Training in disciplines related to humanitarian action, international cooperation, Business Administration and Management, Logistics, or similar is valued.
  • Minimum previous experience of 4 years in a similar position in both development and emergency programs, including solid capacity in planning and direct implementation of the field-level projects cycle.
  • Experience in defining interventions and preparing proposals, field technical support and as Project Manager.
  • Knowledge of international quality standards. Sphere, Core Humanitarian Standards.
  • Valuable knowledge in Cash Based interventions, Emergency response and donor call processes.
  • Languages: Spanish, English and French.
  • International mobility: frequent displacements and permanence in intervention areas, including insecure environments.
  • Preferable knowledge of Action Against Hunger and valued the commitment to Gender Equality through previous experience in issues related to the promotion of gender equality or personal commitment to gender equality.

  • Work contract duration: 12 months.
