In order to ensure the continuity of its humanitarian activities in Cameroon, the Norwegian Refugee Council Cameroon is recruiting a Finance Officer based in Yaoundé for its Finance department.

Generic responsibilities

Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines Implement delegated support function portfolio according to plan of action Prepare and develop status reports as required by management Ensure proper filing of documents Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function

Specific responsibilities

Daily supervision of finance Assistant and Intern Reconciliation of NRC bank accounts and cash boxes weekly and Monthly Establish a good tracking system for advances and ensure that clearance of advances is done on time. Ensure that weekly, monthly finance reports are prepared on time. Daily verification of POs, PRs Bid Analysis, per diem claim and other documents within the finance officer threshold Verify that all Batouri /Yaoundé transactions have complete supporting documents and ensure that all costs are timely booked into Agresso on a daily, weekly and monthly basis Support to ensure month end closure is completed according to the timeline provided in the finance handbook. Follow up to ensure prompt processing of daily vendor payments and Ensure that all supporting documents are complete and accurate before payment is done. Ensure that all supporting documents are complete and accurate before payment is done. On a monthly basis Ensure all deductions are timely remitted to statutory authority according to the provision of the law. Collaborate with the financial institutions to ensure that queries related to payments are timely resolved (return payments, under/over payments of staff, suppliers and contractors incorrect account details etc) Support the Finance Coordinator to facilitate monthly BVA meetings, Project summary and spending plans Consolidate Area cash calls and share with Finance Coordinator for Country Monthly Cash Request. Prepare and share donor report as requested. Safeguard of cash in the office. Facilitate audit activities as required. Induction of new staff on the Finance SOP’s and other Finance related task Perform other related tasks that will be assigned by line manager Provide support on all HR task when required

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in similar position preferably with an international NGO Good knowledge of accounting packages; preferably Agresso-UNIT4B Good knowledge to initiate finance SOPs Good knowledge of Yaounde town and its environs Fluency in English and French are required Minimum of Bachelor degree in related field and an internationally recognized accounting or finance qualification such the ACCA, CPA,CIA,CFA etc Good skills in Excel and Word
