CONTEXT

The Finance Department aims to ensure that financial statements give a true and fair view of the financial position of MSF Belgium and ensure an optimal use of financial resources.

The FASU (Finance Applications Support Unit) serves as the center of expertise for the applications used by the Finance department, maintaining, developing, optimizing and administering a range of financial applications. This includes managing the data structure, data flows and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial data in these applications.

In addition, FASU is responsible for providing technical support, troubleshooting, and training on financial applications used by the Finance Department. They work closely with other finance team members to ensure smooth functioning of financial processes, and collaborate with IT teams for application upgrades, system enhancements, and data integration.

As a Finance Data Analyst in the Finance Applications Support Unit (FASU), you will play a key role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial data by managing the data structure, creating new data models, developing meaningful reports using Power BI, and contributing to the data strategy with a focus on data used for Financial reporting. You will collaborate with other members of the Finance Department and Data Management & Analytics team to optimize financial data processes, provide data-driven insights, support data-driven decision-making, and contribute to the development and implementation of the data strategy for the Finance Department. This role will require working with the complex application landscape of MSF, including various financial and HR applications and systems.

MAIN RESPONSABILITIES

  • Ensure that data remains accurate, consistent, and maintains its integrity across the various finance reports by implementing and monitoring integrity checks.
  • Define and develop new data models and structures to support evolving business requirements and financial reporting needs.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the data strategy for the Finance Department, including data governance, data quality, data integration, and data management best practices.
  • Collaborate with end-users to analyze and gather requirements, understand their reporting needs, to create and maintain datasets, reports and dashboards using Power BI, ensuring that reports are useful and meaningful for end-users.
  • Provide training and support on data analysis tools and techniques to users.
  • Collaborate with Finance team members and Data team to identify and solve data-related issues, troubleshoot technical problems, and optimize data processes in the complex application landscape of MSF. Remain up to date with the data available from other departments and keep finance data available and up to date.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in data analysis tools and techniques, and proactively propose and implement enhancements to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of data processes.
  • Document data models, processes, and reports, and maintain documentation and lineage up to date.

REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a Data Analyst, preferably in a finance or accounting role

Competencies

  • Strong proficiency in Power BI
  • Understanding of financial data structures and accounting principles
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex data sets, identify trends, and provide actionable insights and solutions
  • Knowledge of data strategy, data governance, and data management best practices
  • Proficiency in SQL for data analysis and manipulation
  • Knowledge of MSF's financial processes and procedures is a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and end-users

Languages

  • Fluent in English and Proficiency in French a plus
