About UNU Centre Administration UNU-Centre Administration is responsible for developing and implementing administrative policies governing the UNU and its global network of institutes and programmes. In addition, UNU-Centre Administration provide services to internal clients in the areas of financial management, budgeting, human resources management, travel and procurement. UNU-Centre Administration is located in Tokyo, Japan, with a global services centre based in Putrajaya, Malaysia. Responsibilities The incumbent of this position will be responsible for the following tasks: 1. Provide a wide spectrum of financial accounting services which includes timely and accurate processing of journal vouchers for revenue, receivables, payables, investment transactions, month-end accounts closing and reconciliations. • Ensure adequate and relevant documents to support the journal vouchers. • Ensure the journal vouchers recorded in the appropriate chartfield. • File and archive supporting work papers and documents. 2. Assist with the recording of deposits received from donors/customers. · Timely identification and recording of receipts for income application. · Ensure adequate and relevant documents provided by the budget owners to support the deposit received. · Ensure the revenue recognition recorded in the appropriate chartfield . · File and archive supporting work papers and documents. 3. Assist in preparation of financial reports, accounts analysis and bank reconciliations · Ensure the account schedules reconciled to financial statements and all the balances reported in accordance with accounting standards. · Ensure all the unreconciled items in the bank reconciliations are reconciled on a timely manner. 4. Execute financial operations in accordance with UNU’s policies, UN Financial Regulations and Rules and established operational practices and ensure compliance with internal control requirements · Full compliance of financial processes and financial records with UN/UNU rules, regulations, policies and strategies. 5. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor Key performance indicators Timely and quality in recording financial transactions.Timely and accurately preparing financial reports and schedules.Timely preparing bank reconciliations and resolve all unreconciled items on a monthly basis.Timely complete the ad-hoc task or project assigned. RequirementsDiploma or degree in Accountancy, Business Administration, Business Studies or related field.At least 2 years of relevant working experience for diploma holders; Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.Proficient in Microsoft Office with good Excel spreadsheet skills.Result-oriented, self-motivated and “hands-on” with the ability to prioritize work and multi-task.Fluency in both oral and written English is required.Knowledge of another UN official working language is an asset. Remuneration The successful candidate will be employed under a national PSA contract. UNU offers an attractive compensation package including an annual net salary (of/in the range of) MYR 39,768 - 50,373, commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the candidate. Benefits include 30 days of annual leave and a health insurance scheme. UNU is not liable for any taxes that may be levied on the remuneration you receive under this contract. Payment of any such taxes remains the sole responsibility of PSA holders. Duration of contract The duration of the initial contract is 1 year. This is Personnel Service Agreement (PSA) contract with UNU, with the possibility for renewal subject to requirements and satisfactory work performance. The combined duration on a PSA contract with UNU may not exceed six (6) years. The mandatory age of retirement for PSA holders is 65 years.
