In situations of armed conflict, Geneva Call, as a neutral, impartial and independent international humanitarian organization, endeavors to strengthen the respect of humanitarian norms and principles by armed non-State actors, in order to improve the protection of civilians, while supporting local communities in their efforts to enhance their own protection. Appel de Genève/Geneva Call is a private, not-for-profit, humanitarian organization foundation under Swiss law, founded in 1998.

As part of the Policy, Programmes, and Legal Unit, and under the supervision of the Deputy Head, Policy, Programmes, and Legal, the `Famine and Food Insecurity in Emergencies’ officer in Brussels supports the implementation of Geneva Call’s humanitarian engagement on acute and severe food insecurity in areas affected by armed conflict through the respect of humanitarian norms by armed groups and de facto authorities, a project funded by Germany. The overall activities are research and policy development; thematic advocacy activities to achieve change; and the development of contextualised and innovative engagement tools, thematic and training support to field operations all in relation to the famine and food insecurity in areas of armed conflict.
