Reporting to the Senior Advisor, Education and Child Protection, this position supports several ongoing and upcoming education projects providing technical inputs in program design, technical assistance for project implementation and evaluation and capacity building of project field staff and partners (both remotely and via travel).

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Provide high quality technical assistance to program delivery teams to generate evidence and bring innovations to scale.

• Train, mentor and build capacity of field staff and partners in education innovations and approaches.

• Contribute to the development and dissemination of program quality tools in project’s monitoring and evaluation.

• Advocate, within networks and coalitions for improved policy, policy implementation and resources mobilization in support of Save the Children Canada’s strategic goals.

• Support business development team, leveraging technical expertise, to develop concept notes and proposals.

• Distill learnings and evidence generated into succinct and compelling programmatic guidance and thought leadership for internal and external consumption.

• Monitor developments in the sector and the field to develop and refine program models and identify new research opportunities.

• Engage internally with SCC colleagues to share information on education programs, results, and impact.

• Adhere to Child Safeguarding Policy and Procedures.

Qualifications (include but are not limited to):

• Master’s degree or post graduate qualification in International Development / International Education or related field.

• Minimum 5 years work experience implementing, managing, and providing technical assistance to child and youth programs in developing countries, including education focused programs.

• Experience and practical knowledge of approaches for education system strengthening, girls’ education, inclusive education, education in emergencies, teacher professional development and improving learning outcomes.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to develop strong working relationships across cultural and organizational boundaries with internal and external stakeholders, and managing through influence.

• Successful proposal development track record, knowledge of Results-Based Management (RBM) approach.

• Experience with child rights programming including in areas of Education.

• Knowledge of gender equality principles and practices.

• Solid experience in grant management, including budget holding and donor reporting.

• Representational and advocacy skills.

• Teaching experience highly desirable.

• Proficiency in French considered a strong asset.

• Ability to travel internationally, several weeks per year.
