The Opportunity

Education is a fundamental component of humanitarian response: it contributes to the physical and psychological protection of children, their families and communities; it supports and promotes the continuation of child development and learning and helps prevent drop out; it presents an opportunity to improve the reach, quality and relevance of education, including building resilience. To this effect, in November Save the Children International (SCI) applied as a grantee for the ECW MYRP 2021-2024, leading a consortium with partners Norwegian Refugees Council (NRC), International Aid Services (IAS) and Global Aid Hand (GAH). The SCI led consortium has been selected for the MYRP, receiving 83% of the seed funding (14.7 out of 17.7 M). The implementation of this seed funding will be in the two states of West Darfur and South Kordofan for a period of 3 years.

This role will be primarily concerned with ensuring the timely and high-quality implementation of the SCI ECW programme, although will also engage with consortium program managers (NRC, IAS and GAH) to ensure common technical approaches and guidelines are followed. The PM will oversee the implementation of the overall program activities that will lead to the following outcomes: i) improved access to education; ii) improved quality of education; iii) protective and safe learning environments; and, iv) addressing the educational needs of girls specifically. The post holder is responsible for ensuring that a quality programme is delivered and that local staff capacities are strengthened both in West Darfur and South Kordofan. The post holder will be expected, with limited support, to lead on programme activity phasing and master budgeting, coordination, reporting and will support fundraising, recruitment, provision of technical guidance and procurement for the project.
