Introduction
The mission of the Green Climate Fund is to assist developing countries to respond to climate change while bringing prosperity to their people. Established in 2010, the GCF invests in transformational climate projects in the developing world. The Fund makes an ambitious contribution to global climate action and channels significant financial resources into developing countries to help build low-emission and climate-resilient societies. It is country-driven and undertakes actions that reflect the circumstances of each country concerned and its national aspirations. The GCF is a key enabler of the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change. Since its establishment, the GCF has approved 190 projects in 123 countries and has committed USD 10 billion in climate finance. In addition, it has built up an extensive program to support developing countries to identify their needs, in particular, those who are most vulnerable to climate change impacts. The GCF’s diverse workforce is advancing its mission from its headquarters in South Korea. Internship Assignment

The Events Management and Travel Unit (EMTU) is part of the Division of Support Services, providing cross-cutting support to all GCF divisions, offices, and personnel in the areas of events management and corporate travel. EMTU aims to enhance its processes and services further while developing and implementing virtual, hybrid and physical events of the GCF and supporting travel arrangements. The Intern will provide support in EMTU to ensure that these initiatives are planned, managed, and delivered effectively. S/he will have the opportunity to learn and expand her/his experiences by helping in the ​analysis, documentation, and improvement of EMTU processes.​

Under the overall guidance of the Events Management Specialist, the Intern is expected to:

  1. Assist with systematization of the catalogue of services managed by the EMTU and related external providers on contract with the GCF, support with the procurement process for the services necessary.

    1. Maintain records of events and maintain statistics to serve as indicators to measure the impact of these activities.

      1. Assist in the organization of virtual, hybrid and physical GCF events, including logistical arrangements, preparation and distribution of relevant information and materials, support for cross-team collaboration, assistance on site at physical events in Songdo, support with the hosting of virtual events from the GCF studio.

        1. Support with drafting of official correspondence, letters, etc.

          1. Work on additional operational tasks as assigned by the Events Management Specialist.

            Requirements and qualifications

            1. Enrolled in Master’s program in ​Business, Information Technology​ or related fields;

              1. Knowledge and experience with ​documentation, process mapping, and process improvement​;

                1. Good understanding and experience in customer service / operations of international organizations is an added advantage;

                  1. Proficiency in using standard software programs: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access;

                    1. Excellent writing and presentation skills;

                      1. Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of Korean is an advantage.
