SUMMARY ABOUT THE PROJECT

Cowater International Inc. is implementing a project Women Empowerment and Political Participation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (WEPP-KP) which aims to increase the political participation and enjoyment of rights by women, particularly young and marginalized women and those at-risk.

POSITION SUMMARY

The role of the District Field Officer is to coordinate with office of District Social welfare for the implementation of WEPP-KP technical assistance activities at the district level. S/he will assist the WEPP-KP team in the delivery of district level activities and data collection/progress tracking for various interventions. S/he will report to the Gender Advisor.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be the focal point person for coordination and implementation of WEPP-KP at the district-level.
  • Provide support to project counterparts and the project team in district-level planning and coordination.
  • Organize and participate in district level meetings with Additional Deputy Commissioners, District Social Welfare Officers, District Committees on Status of Women, Social Welfare Department, local administration and local community.
  • Assist the WEPP-KP team in implementation of district level activities including capacity building events/workshops, collection of data for research, monitoring and evaluation activities and support communications of WEPP-KP by contributing to and sharing success stories, photographs, including dissemination of important information and IEC materials.
  • Provide coordination and administrative support for the efficient delivery of trainings in communities on women and gender related issues, gender responsive bills, gender policies, provincial legislation on women related issues, community mobilization, communication skills, and identification of barriers to their political participation and community forums.
  • Monitoring visits to field and to provide technical support to the Monitoring & Evaluation Officer.
  • Develop monthly district progress reports to share updates on districts.
  • Ensure adherence to WEPP-KP operational policies, procedures and standards of conduct, while facilitating smooth implementation of all program field activities.
  • Undertake any other project tasks as directed by the Team Leader.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Degree in social sciences, or relevant area

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • 3-5-years relevant experience in project management and/or community mobilisation.
  • 2+ years of experience working on donor-funded development projects.
  • Demonstrated experience organising multi-stakeholder events.
  • Demonstrated experience undertaking field monitoring and producing reports.
  • Ability to work individually, self-motivate and take initiative, while being a team-player.
  • Effective communication and decision-making skills are required.
  • Fluency in English, Pashto and Urdu.
  • Previous experience of working in or with district-level government offices is an asset.

Employment conditions : This is a field-based position. The project office is located in Peshawar and you will be expected to attend the office from time to time at the request of the Team Leader. However, the duties will primarily be delivered at the district level. This means that candidates will need to have their own space from which to work and will be required to interact regularly with district level stakeholders and communities.

This is a fixed-term, full-time position for a duration of 1 year initially. The contract may be extended beyond one year based on the project's needs and performance of the individual.
