Lifting Hands International is looking for an Aid Distributions and Warehouse Manager to start in November 2021 in Greece with a minimum six-months commitment.

About Us
Lifting Hands International operates a community center in Serres, a small city about an hour away from Thessaloniki in Northern Greece. We work with a population of 1000+ refugees at the local camps, providing regular aid distributions and a range of psycho-social programs.

Role Profile
Warehouse Manager
The duties of this role is to enable LHI to move forward with its vision to become a distribution hub for the rest of Northern Greece. The manager will take responsibility for the running of our new warehouse and the development of relationships with other organisations in order to facilitate the receiving and sending of necessary aid to where it is most needed throughout the country.

Aid Distribution Manager
The manager will assess the way the distributions are done and develop a dignified and efficient manner in which they can be done. The manager will develop a fair and equal method of distributing fresh food and hygiene products, will show problem-solving skills and will implement all improvements needed.

Warehouse:

  • Help manage the warehouse and stock using Boxtribute software
  • Help complete regular reports and program reviews to inform senior management
  • Help supervise international volunteers during regular warehouse shifts
  • Help develop a network of local suppliers for distributions in line with budget restrictions
  • Help engage with partners and donors to highlight and fulfil distribution needs
  • Work under the supervision of the Director over Logistics and Evaluation to maintain oversight of finances

Aid Distribution:

  • Is in charge of the distributions, will take ownership of the project, will assess and design required improvements for distributions
  • Works closely with the Director over Logistics and Evaluation and the entire team to find creative and dignified solutions
  • Is responsible for gathering feedbacks from volunteers and beneficiaries to insure the problems are identified and addressed in a participative way
  • Help ensure the resident census is accurate and up to date
  • Help supervise a team of volunteers who facilitate distributions inside the camp
  • Help plan and manage all distributions, including food, clothing, hygiene and diapers
  • Help develop the distribution program in line with organisational strategy

Essential criteria:

  • Previous humanitarian experience, particularly in a distribution or logistics role
  • International drivers licence with preferable experience of driving a van
  • Experience in Aid Distribution and Warehouse Management
  • Previous experience of people management
  • Professional and proactive attitude, able to remain calm under pressure
  • Able to work independently and without constant supervision
  • Able to work well in a large, multicultural team
  • Minimum six months commitment
  • Must be a fluent English speaker

Desirable criteria:

  • Previous experience in a coordination role
  • Understanding of key aid distribution principles
  • Knowledge of Arabic/Farsi/French/Greek
  • Potential to stay on the team for 6-12 months
